Cambridge Dictionary has updated its definitions of “man” and “woman” to include people who were not born as those sexes. These changes were made in October but were brought to light this week.
The definition of a woman is “an adult human female,” but it also includes anyone who “identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.” The definition of a man is “an adult human male” but also now includes “an adult who lives and identifies as male though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”
While this is just a definition in a dictionary, people who are critical of gender ideology worry that it will harm women by allowing men into single-sex spaces. This has been the argument of author J.K. Rowling who this week funded a rape shelter in Scotland that is for biological women only.
Speaking of single-sex spaces, a lesbian artist in Norway is under investigation for saying that men cannot be lesbians. I’ve said it over and over, gender ideology can be homophobic if we’re not careful. What do gay rights even mean anymore?
