President Biden is standing down to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Earlier this week, the President agreed with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer that Netanyahu is an “obstacle to peace,” but now the President has assured the Israeli leader that he didn’t mean it. Hmm, okay.

The U.S. has repeatedly asked Israel not to invade the southern Gaza city of Rafah but Israel is pretending not to hear that too. A delegation of officials will travel to Washington this week to discuss the planned invasion.

“I made it as clear as possible to the president that we are determined to complete the elimination of these battalions in Rafah, and there is no way to do this without a ground incursion,” Netanyahu said to members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
