The Biden administration’s Title IX rules that would extend women’s rights to men who identify as women has been halted by litigation from federal judges in Mississippi, Texas and Montana.

In Mississippi, a judge granted a preliminary injunction and a nationwide stay against the new rules. The judge’s ruling affirmed that the “federal government can’t enforce its reinterpretation of Title IX protections to include gender identity revisions.”

A judge in Texas and Montana had granted a stay in those states.

In May, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services revised the Title IX rules, kneecapping women’s rights. The Federal government intends to fight this stay and continue to defend this version of Title IX, although it is unclear how they will succeed in this uphill battle.
