In advance of the BRICS Summit, Nigeria announced that it will stop using the U.S. dollar for oil trades and instead sell crude oil in local currencies.

India, however, will stick with the U.S. dollar for international trade and transaction for now. The country says that they have no plans to “aggressively push the de-dollarization agenda.”

Cuba has officially requested to join BRICS, and the Pakistani ambassador to Russia recently reinforced Pakistan’s desire to join as well to protect itself from the arbitrary nature of U.S. sanctions.

“We have shown our seriousness to the Russian side that we would be willing to join the BRICS,” he said. “This is the way forward.”
