Will air travel get more dangerous because of…wait for it…climate change? It couldn’t be because of airplane manufacturer conspiracies, right?

As safety incidents on airplanes increase and regulators look to Boeing to figure out what the heck is going on, look at this headline: “Professor ponders…” if climate change is creating more turbulence. Translation: It’s your fault for living in the modern world and pumping greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. It certainly is not the aviation industry’s fault! No way!

How do they know that climate change contributes to air turbulence? This study concludes that since turbulence has increased in frequency in recent years, it must be because of climate change. They don’t prove causality though.

Aviation technology allows airlines to forecast and avoid turbulence so the climate change explanation doesn’t quite add up, does it?
