Another hurricane is threatening to disrupt the Gulf Coast this week, Hurricane Milton. Pray that victims don’t need the federal government’s help in the wake of this one because the federal government has wet the bed trying to help victims in North Carolina from Hurricane Helene.
Hurricane Milton is now a Category 5 storm expected to land on the West Coast of Florida by Wednesday. It’s being called the largest storm in 100 years to take aim at Florida.
Meanwhile, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says that the idea that they are out of money is “frankly ridiculous and just plain false.” Deanne Criswell of FEMA spoke to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos about this over the weekend. She says that FEMA being out of money is a Republican talking point.
Only it was Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who said it. The White House said that no FEMA aid went to illegal migrants, only the White House did say that funds for migrants came from FEMA in 2022. So if there is enough money, why did the Biden/Harris administration only approve funding for displaced victims of $750 per person and why are victims still struggling to receive that aid? Stories like this don’t help. According to the Daily Mail: “In a virtual meeting from March 2023, FEMA Emergency Management Specialist Tyler Atkins alarmingly said the agency was prioritizing LGBTQ people because they are “already disadvantaged.”
