Media’s Response to Trump Assassination Attempts

A media research group found that 95% of the coverage of the second assassination attempt on President Trump was negative. Shocker.

The Media Research Group is a conservative group but let’s see what they say:

“MRC analysts analyzed all 69 minutes of campaign coverage on the evening newscasts from September 15 through September 17. The attempted assassination was by far the dominant story:  48 minutes of airtime, or almost 70% of all campaign news.” They found that “while the attempted assassination dominated campaign coverage, these networks’ anti-Trump spin was nearly as bad as it could be: 95% negative, vs. just five percent positive.”

What do they mean negative and how could this story be positive at all? They said that the networks blamed Trump himself for bringing this on himself. NBC’s Lester Holt said that the president’s assassination came “amid increasingly fierce rhetoric on the campaign trail itself.”

But what about the notion that this cuts both ways? That perhaps Democrats are also using fierce rhetoric? According to the report, “out of 48 minutes of coverage of the attempted shooting, the three networks spent less than two minutes (1 minute, 53 seconds) on the possibility that Democrats could share the blame.”
