Comcast announced that it will “spinoff” its cable networks including MSNBC, CNBC, E!, Syfy, Golf Channel, Oxygen and USA. Does that mean dump them? Sort of.

NBCUniversal will no longer be the parent company of these networks and they will be on their own under a new company called SpinCo. This naming is probably not wise given that people can see the obvious biased “spin” that NBC’s cable news networks have been guilty of. They have literally spun themselves into a ratings abyss so do you really want to draw attention to that?

Comcast will keep the broadcast network NBC, streaming network Peacock and the reality network Bravo.

MSNBC stars are reportedly freaking out about this because it removes their access to NBC News reporting and money and pushes them lower on the pecking order of old world media. They worried “about whether the network will need to change its name, logos and headquarters after reports surfaced that the new entity could be cut off from the reporting muscle of NBC News, sources said.” Their boss Mark Lazarus says that he wasn’t sure.

So MSNBC could just become…MS? And CNBC would be…C? Do you think it has something to do with their total self implosion due to utterly shit reporting since the pandemic?

Bill O’Reilly says that this means that MSNBC “is vapor” without NBC News but NBC News has to do this because MSNBC is dragging down NBC News properties like The Today Show. He predicts that this is a death knell of MSNBC and possibly CNBC too.
