New Setback for Electric Vehicles

Ford announced that it would focus on making hybrid vehicles instead of battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) because EVs just don’t sell and are not the most eco-friendly option when it comes to cars.

This makes sense business-wise but the federal government may cause a stink. New EPA rules will require 56% of all new cars on the road to be EVs by 2032. So what will happen if automakers don’t want to make them because they can’t sell them?

Ford noted that it will take a loss of about $400 million by canceling production of three EV SUVs but that is what they feel like they have to do. It is also noteworthy that Ford can make the hybrid cars in the U.S. while decreasing dependence on foreign imports and manufacturing.
