The group responsible says that they did this just before the summer solstice, when thousands of people are expected to visit the site as an environmental protest. They said that the orange paint that they used was cornstarch that would wash off but Stonehenge is a legally protected monument and a world heritage site so their actions are illegal. And dumb.
