What is going on with air travel?? A United Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Florida due to an "open door indicator light illuminated Wednesday.” This is the second emergency landing in less than a week due to equipment failure.
No one was hurt in either incident but it does not inspire confidence, does it? The FAA has grounded 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 planes “until operators complete enhanced inspections which include both left and right cabin door exit plugs, door components, and fasteners.”
Many things could lead to this but some say that Boeing has prioritized diversity over safety and have pointed out that the company’s SEC filings “reveal that in beginning 2022, the annual bonus plan to reward CEO and executives for increasing profit for shareholders and prioritizing safety was changed to reward them if they hit DEI targets.”
Maybe that is related and maybe it isn’t. That would be hard to prove but it is definitely worth considering. The CEO of Boeing apologized on Wednesday and said that the company would investigate “every step of the way.”
Remember when we were asked to stand six feet apart during the pandemic? This week, Dr. Fauci admitted that there was no science behind those guidelines.
Remember when people got into fights for standing “too close”? Remember how we re-ordered society for this? You would think that the person leading the pandemic response would not let anything “just sort of appear.”
This was a continuation of Dr. Fauci’s testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. He also acknowledged that the “lab-leak hypothesis is not a conspiracy theory” despite the mainstream media calling it that repeatedly in 2020. Why didn’t he shut that down, I wonder?
A few other revelations from this testimony: Fauci praised President Trump for restricting travel to China and admitted that he was the one who “advised American universities to impose vaccine mandates on their students.”
The committee chair Brad Wenstrup said that the committee “remain(s) frustrated with Dr. Fauci’s inability to recollect COVID-19 information” but they’re going to keep digging. This hearing was closed but we are expecting transcripts after lawyers review it. A public hearing is also scheduled at an unknown future date.

Ukrainian Money Corruption

The Ukrainian government admitted this week that $262 million was stolen from its military budget. Don’t worry, though; they’re going to fix it, they say.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on Facebook that the government has rooted out this corruption and when they find it, “We react harshly to all such cases. We closely cooperate with law enforcement agencies and special services.”
So maybe the West wants to pay attention to this before sending more arms to Ukraine to fight a war that is based on a lie? They seem to have not noticed. German chancellor Olaf Scholz said this week that Europe needs “higher contributions” to the war in Ukraine. U.S. Congress is debating further aid to Ukraine and Senator Chris Coons said this week that it is a priority. For him anyway.
FKA Twigs is trending because she was in a Calvin Klein ad that was banned in the UK for being too sexual after people complained. The company says it is not much different than the types of ads it has been using for years and added that “a degree of nudity should be expected” in underwear marketing. Remember these Kate Moss and Mark Walberg ads?
Selena Gomez is trending on news that she will play Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming film.
Taro Daniel is trending because he became the first Japanese tennis player to advance to the semifinals at the ASB Classic on Thursday.
News By The Numbers
10.5%. That is how much Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow has proposed to increase property taxes this year to fix the city’s deficit. The Mayor also said that if the federal government doesn’t come up with more money for refugee support, she will add another 6% to property taxes on top of that 10.5% hike.
250,000. That is how many plastic nanoparticles were found in a single plastic water bottle in a recent study.
$650,000. That is how much special prosecutor Nathan Wade has made from his work for the Fulton County District Attorney for prosecuting former President Trump. New court filings say that he has used some of that money to pay for vacations for District Attorney Fani Willis and that this constitutes an “improper” relationship that she has personally benefited from. This claim did not come from the Trump legal camp but if it is true, it could lead to Willis’ removal from the case against Trump.
-10°F. That is the forecast for the upcoming playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins which could be the coldest game either team has ever played in franchise history. Who wants tickets to that!?
Hunter Biden showed up to a congressional hearing about his contempt charges but he wasn’t having fun so he stormed out part-way through. Must be nice.
Congress was set to vote on whether or not to hold the younger Biden in contempt for his failure to comply with a subpoena. The committee is investigating corruption for peddling foreign interference and he has behaved exactly as you would expect a dictator’s son to behave: contemptuous and petulant and in a way a normal citizen would not dare.
GOP Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina was apoplectic about it. She said this right to his face:
“You are the epitome of White privilege. Coming into the Oversight Committee, spitting in our face, ignoring a congressional subpoena to be deposed. What are you afraid of? You have no balls.”
Well, a president’s son doesn’t have to take that, right? He marched himself right out of there. The committee went ahead and voted to hold him in contempt. It will not advance for a vote by the House.
