🚨 All dogs go to heaven – February 20 2025

Happy Thursday.

The White House announced the death of Hurricane the White House guard dog. He was a Special Operations Canine and reportedly “the most decorated K-9 in US history.” Most notably, he took down the White House intruder in 2014 while former President Obama and his family were home.

Thankfully all dogs go to heaven.

Europe announced new sanctions on Russia, the 16th sanctions package since the was began in 2022.

“The EU is clamping down even harder on circumvention by targeting more vessels in Putin’s shadow fleet and imposing new import and export bans,” said EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen.

Has it escaped her attention that the European economy is terrible and that this downward spiral began when sanctions began? Has it escaped her attention that the Russian economy has only grown since, despite sanctions?

This is a part of Europe’s tough talk about continuing the war on Ukraine, even though we all know that without the U.S., that is not possible.

Now there are rumors that the U.S. would leave NATO. If that happens, NATO would flounder just like the EU is without the U.S. European leaders are fearmongering that without NATO and the U.S., Russia would keep moving West. That is nonsense and based on ignorance and misunderstanding of the conflict.

There are now reports that French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have been invited to the White House to discuss this. How do you think that is going to go?

Drone Strikes in the U.S.?

The United States has declared the following drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations: “Tren de Aragua – MS-13 – Sinaloa Cartel – Jalisco New Generation Cartel – United Cartels – Northeast Cartel – Gulf Cartel – Michoacán Family.”

This will give the government more firepower to go after these cartels. The Associated Press said that this is “unnecessarily broad and harsh” and “could damage relations and paralyze trade with Latin America.”

Do they think that Latin American countries are run by drug cartels? Do they not know that Latin American countries want to eradicate drug cartels too? In fact, Ecuador this week announced that they will seek foreign military assistance to fight the cartel, although they did not specify which foreign government they would turn to.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that Mexico will “not accept” any U.S. military action on the cartels inside of Mexico but does agree that the U.S. and Mexico should work together to eradicate them.

“If they make this decree to investigate even more in the United States the money laundering and the criminal groups that operate in the United States, that carry out those drug sales, it’s very good,” Sheinbaum said. “What we do not accept is the violation of our sovereignty.”

Elon Musk said on X that this designation “means they’re eligible for drone strikes.” Immediately no. Drone strikes on U.S. territory? Nope. Because, as we’ve learned in the Middle East, there is no such thing as precision airstrikes. That is the precision paradox. It is when the government tells you that they can launch targeted strikes and avoid collateral death and damage. They cannot. We would all be at risk from drone strikes.

Defense Budget

The Washington Post reports that the Trump administration wants to shrink the budget for the Pentagon by 8% in the next five years. Their source is, as usual for WaP, “officials familiar with the matter.”

According to WaPo, “Hegseth ordered the proposed cuts to be drawn up by Feb. 24, according to the memo, which includes a list of 17 categories that the Trump administration wants exempted. Among them: operations at the southern U.S. border, modernization of nuclear weapons and missile defense, and acquisition of one-way attack drones and other munitions.”

The Defense Budget has ballooned in recent years to $910 billion. To put this into perspective, China has the world’s largest military yet their military budget is only $224 billion. How do they spend only a quarter of what we spend with far more manpower?

Perhaps because they don’t have wasteful contracts where they deflate the value of equipment by many orders of magnitude?

What’s Trending?

Blake Lively is trending because the actress amended her complaint against Justin Baldoni. Zack Peter has been my go-to source on this crazy bananas story.

LaVar Ball is trending because the former NBA player reportedly had his right foot amputated after suffering a “serious medical issue.”

Lily Phillips is trending. She is the OnlyFans performer who had sex with over 100 men in one day. She announced that she is pregnant. Some are saying that this is a prank.

News By The Numbers

$599. That is the price of the new iPhone 16e, announced on Wednesday at the Apple event.

10 years. That is the prison sentence that the Canadian government sought for the Canadian ‘Freedom Convoy’ organizer Pat King. He instead was sentenced to three months of house arrest plus 100 hours of community service at a food bank or men’s shelter and one year of probation.

$30,000. That is how much Delta Airlines is reportedly offering each passenger that was on the crashed plane to Toronto. The company says that this is a gesture with “no strings attached and does not impact rights.” There are strings. Taking that money would be a settlement to prevent future litigation.

Funding for Migrants

President Trump on Wednesday signed an Executive Order to “TERMINATE all taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens and END the subsidization of open borders.”

The order points out that the law already prohibits this from happening, via the “Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (Public Law 104-193) (PRWORA).” But of course we know that it still happens and happened increasingly under the Biden administration.

The order calls for officials to “identify all federally funded programs administered by the agency that currently permit illegal aliens to obtain any cash or non-cash public benefit, and, consistent with applicable law, take all appropriate actions to align such programs with the purposes of this order and the requirements of applicable Federal law, including the PRWORA.”

Many states will still offer benefits to non-citizen migrants though. California and Oregon offer full medical care and housing subsidies so can they still do that? Only if they use their own money. This order says that states cannot use Federal payments to “facilitate the subsidization or promotion of illegal immigration, or abet so-called “sanctuary” policies that seek to shield illegal aliens from deportation.”
