Happy Thursday

Jennifer Combs, a mom from Trinidad, Texas, who had never gotten so much as a speeding ticket, was charged with a felony and arrested simply for creating a Facebook post about the dirty sewer-like water that’s been flowing from her faucets.

It didn’t stop there, though. After she was arrested, a man protesting outside Trinidad City Hall was handcuffed and put in a police car because officials claimed he had offended a water department clerk.

Then, the water clerk was fired because she refused to sign a statement that said she was offended. Combs says a judge then dropped the case against the protester. The city then fired that judge, as well as the attorney.

If only they had let her Facebook post go, because now, it’s obvious that someone is trying really hard to cover up something about the water supply.

The United States has begun launching new airstrikes against targets inside Iran.

According to CENTCOM, U.S. forces struck multiple locations in Iran after President Trump authorized additional military action. Explosions were reportedly heard in Sirik, Qeshm Island, Minab, and Isfahan as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate.

The justification?

CENTCOM claimed the attacks were “self-defense” and were launched in response to Iran’s “unwarranted and continued aggression.”

It’s hard to buy the “self-defense” narrative when, earlier that day, Trump said the U.S. was close to a deal while also promising to “hit them hard.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a similar message, stating that the U.S. would “strike Iran with full force today.”

It’s the same contradictory rhetoric we’ve heard time and time again: “We’re close to a deal” on one hand, yet “we’re going to bomb the sh#! out of them” on the other. It makes no sense at all.

At this point, the entire situation appears increasingly chaotic. Then again, it seems to have been that way from the very beginning.

Americans have been told a deal was possible, but every move coming out of Washington seems to point in the opposite direction. Many believe a “peace deal” doesn’t actually exist because Netanyahu wants this war, and the U.S. will follow his lead regardless of the impact on American families and the countless others around the world who continue to suffer because of it.

War Abroad, Pain at Home

Inflation has been steadily climbing and is now at its highest level in three years, thanks to the United States’ refusal to pull out of Israel’s war with Iran.

The situation mirrors what happened under President Biden, when billions of taxpayer dollars were poured into the war in Ukraine. Now it’s the same story all over again, just a different president, a different country, but with an even greater economic impact.

According to the latest Consumer Price Index report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, consumer prices in May 2026 are sky-high, up 4.2 percent compared to May 2025.

Of course, no one needed a government report to know inflation is bad. Every trip to the grocery store is a real-life inflation report.

Grocery prices are up 3.1 percent, while restaurant prices have increased 2.7 percent, which means it could be cheaper to eat out than cook at home. Do they want us to be unhealthy by being forced to eat processed fast foods?

Beyond food, utility bills are rising, with this summer’s electricity bills predicted to be the highest we’ve seen in five years, and gas prices have reportedly surged 40 percent since the war began.

Higher gas prices don’t just make filling up more expensive. They cut directly into the budgets of small business owners, truck drivers, and daily commuters, leaving less money for life’s necessities.

The economic situation is a mess, and it’s predicted to get worse.

So does the administration care?

When asked whether he was concerned about the latest inflation report, President Trump responded: “No, I love it. I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over–do you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn’t know? Iran until right now.”

Trump may love it, but millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table certainly don’t. And whatever oil is being hauled out of Iran in the dead of night won’t shield ordinary people from the economic storm that’s brewing.
