Last year Congress approved a defense budget totaling $886 billion and we freaked out. The year before, we freaked out because it was in the high $700 billion-range, although we know that the military adds to this by funneling more money through contractors.
To put this into perspective, China has the world’s largest military in terms of people but their budget was only $224 billion in 2024.
How can the U.S. afford this while also marching towards another debt ceiling in September?
As for drafting women, the bill specifies that there are plenty of non-combat positions that women could take and exempts them from the front lines. The bill makes the case that women may need to be drafted due to low recruitment but many say that this is a slippery slope and could mean that women do go into the front lines in the future. If they do that, they’d have to lower physical fitness standards. Who would that benefit? Combat doesn’t account for lower standards, does it?

President Biden promised us that Ukraine would not use the HIMARs that the U.S. sends to attack Russia. On Wednesday, Ukraine basically said, “Oh, we’re doing that.”
The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces confirmed that they have used “US-provided HIMARS rocket systems to target pontoon bridges and engineering equipment in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.”
President Biden said that President Zelensky gave him his word that they wouldn’t do this. In 2022, he said that if Ukraine attacked Russia with U.S. weapons, that would spell out World War III. But Biden isn’t in charge any more, is he? So, World War III it is!
To their credit, Russia has shown restraint in retaliating against the weapons suppliers so far but for how long?
Ukraine has also asked the European Union to extradite Ukrainians who are living in EU countries so that he can send them to war but EU states have unanimously refused to do so.
170,000. That is how many ways there are to order a Starbucks coffee. Soon that will be 170,001 because the Pumpkin Spice (Pesticide) Latte is returning early this year by popular demand.
44. That is how many Democratic delegates voted “present” at the during the Democratic National Convention’s (DNC) symbolic roll call vote. This means that they did not endorse Kamala Harris. Many of them are doing so in protest of the Democrats support of the war in Israel.
$500 million. That is how much Reuters reports that the Kamala Harris campaign raised in the last month.
New research shows that people who go on injectable weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have a 45% higher rate of suicide ideation.
This comes from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) database for adverse drug events. The WHO did not do this research for themselves. Of course not. Researchers analyzed the injectable drugs versus other drugs and found this higher rate of suicide ideation, which they say “warrants urgent clarification.”
This does not mean that Ozempic users are actually committing suicide but it does indicate that losing the weight is not necessarily solving their problems or making them happier in life. Especially when it comes with so many major side effects such as life-long diarrhea.
Jack Daniels is the next company to abandon DEI corporate policies for its employees, on the heels of Harley Davidson, Tractor Supply and John Deere.
This may be based on the crusade of X users Robby Starbuck whose mission it is to expose companies for neoracist behavior such as diversity hiring quotas and social justice training. Starbuck said that he’d been ready to expose Jack Daniels for these very practices and the company may have been tipped off by LinkedIn searches. They pre-emptively notified their employees that they would stop the “diversity ambitions,” base incentives and goals on “business performance,” end participation in the Human Right’s Campaign’s Equality Index and review all training manual for DEI-type language.
They say that they began diversity programs in 2019 but they will pivot from them because the “world has evolved.”
Starbuck says that he has over 15GB of data about Jack Daniels’ DEI program.
What’s Trending?
credit: Trump War Room
Oprah Winfrey is trending because she made a brief speech at the Democratic National Convention. The Trump campaign-affiliated X account posted this letter in response to her speech. It is a hand-written note from Winfrey to Trump suggesting that the two of them would have made a great political duo.
Chris Cuomo is trending for pointing out how the suites at the political conventions cost at least $500,000 and that this shows who really has power in politics, not the working class plebeians that are on the floor. This highlights the hypocrisy of the DNC talking points saying that they will regulate and tax the wealthy while the wealthy keep watchful eye.
John Legend is trending because people did not like his cover of a Prince song at the DNC. Not at all.
