Lead: Biden's Team Tries to Run Out The Clock

Democrats want to hold a virtual vote to speed up President Biden's nomination for the 2024 Democratic ticket. The Democratic National Committee argues that this is necessary to beat a deadline in Ohio for placing a candidate on the ballot but Ohio has already extended the deadline to accommodate for this. So..is there another reason to do this?

At least three House Democrats oppose this plan. Representatives Susan Wild, Mike Quigley, and Jared Huffman say it is wrong.

"Stifling debate and prematurely shutting down any possible change in the Democratic ticket through an unnecessary and unprecedented 'virtual roll call' in the days ahead is a terrible idea," said a copy of the draft letter seen by Reuters. "It could deeply undermine the morale and unity of Democrats."

Democrats are saying that rushing through the nomination is a "Trumpian maneuver." When did Trump do something like this? He hasn't. Their argument is that he would do things like this. In other words, they are removing their party's ability to participate in the democratic process which is what we tell everyone Trump would do while they do it.

Biden's Last Ditch Socialist Plans

President Biden has proposed two legislative changes, neither of which has any chance of passing into law. Both are bids to increase his support, which is circling the drain.

On Tuesday, the President proposed nationwide rent control, which would cap rent increases at 5%, leaving landlords with the burden of increased costs of property maintenance, insurance costs and property tax increases. Economist Peter St. Onge says that "price controls are one of the most destructive phenomena in economics, well known for centuries to cause shortages and make products crappy." Meaning tenants would live in crappier homes if landlords had to lose money to maintain them.

This proposal would never pass Congress. It's just, as the Wall Street Journal says, "another classic White House policy contradiction: Subsidize housing, then discourage its development."

The President also plans to propose term limits and an enforceable ethics code for U.S. Supreme Court justices. Many Americans support this but it is still a long shot given that it would require a constitutional amendment or congressional action. Also, given that ethics laws don't apply to the Bidens, do we want these ethics to come from this President?

California Loses Elon Musk

Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law that prevents schools from notifying parents if their children start identifying as another gender or using new pronouns.

California calls this "forced outing," meaning that the schools "out" the children for transgender ideology to their parents. Some school districts had policies that required the schools to inform the parents of their children's attempts to transition genders. California now forbids districts from doing this.

According to California, that is not the parents' business until the child is ready because, the bill says, "it can be harmful to force young people to share their full identities before they are ready." The data shows that it can be harmful to children to transition at all but California is ignoring that data.

Elon Musk says that this bill is the final straw for his companies that are headquartered in California. He will move SpaceX and X headquarters out of California to Texas. Gender ideology is not the only push factor, he says. He says that he and his employees "have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building."

What's Trending?

Mark Hamill is trending for this Tweet mocking President Trump's ear bandage.

Patrick Beverley is trending because the basketball player announced that he will leave the NBA and sign with an Israeli league team called Hapoel Tel Aviv BC.

King's Speech is trending because King Charles delivered a speech on Wednesday to detail "Prime Minister Keir Starmer's plans for Britain at the State Opening of Parliament."

"He saved Trump's life"

Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe says that the cop who confronted the Trump shooter, Thomas Cooks, saved Trump's life by interrupting him. The cop confronted the shooter and then turned around and crawled back down the roof when the shooter aimed his gun at the cop. That interruption saved the President, according to that logic.

By the same logic, that interruption cost the innocent bystander his life so you can't have it both ways. What that cop unequivocally should have done is stop the shooter from firing any bullets at any cost, right? Are cops jobs now just to interrupt crimes to alter their outcomes? Not, oh I don't know, STOP it?

Sheriff Slupe says that this cop is a hero and that anyone who criticizes him is an "a-hole."

“Can you imagine 10 seconds before that? That the president was looking straight ahead and where that bullet could have potentially landed,” the sheriff said.

The bullets did land on an innocent husband and father. Two others are still in a hospital and in stable condition.
