The stock market is tanking due to oh-so-many-factors that serious economists have been warning about and yet the media is pretending this is surprising. Some are calling this Black Monday 2024 and somewhat predictably many trading platforms are reporting “outages.”

Is this the recession “triggered”? Last Friday the jobs report showed that unemployment was up to 4.3 percent in July, bringing the three-month average to 4.13 percent. The three-month average in the same period last year was 3.63 percent, which is a strong indication of a recession if you consider the “Sahm Rule.”

The Sahm Rule is named after Obama-era economist Claudia Sahm. It states that a recession usually follows when the three-month unemployment average is more than half a point lower than the three-month average the previous year. This has been true every time this has happened since the 1970s and now those conditions are met.

Major banks are predicting interest rate cuts when the Federal Reserve meets again – by up to 1 percent per meeting, which, according to economist Peter St. Onge, “qualifies as panic in Central Banking.”

The good news is that most Americans already feel like they live in a recession. It’s the media and politicians that are pretending otherwise.

The War in Ukraine Takes To The Skies

Ukraine says that it is bulking up its Air Force with the help of the F-16 fighter jets that the U.S. sent them. Remember when we were told that the U.S. would not send F-16 to Ukraine because it could trigger a major war with Russia? What happened there?

Ukrainian President Zelensky said that all he had to do was ask enough times like a petulant child to get those F-16s. He said this on X: “We often heard the word ‘impossible’ in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this.”

Does Ukraine have pilots who know how to fly these? A U.S. official told the New York Times that “about a half-dozen pilots were conducting test flights on as many jets in ‘uncontested’ Ukrainian airspace. He said the Ukrainian pilots were getting acclimated to operations on a small scale and had not yet engaged the Russians.”

The Times says that the jets at the very least “will bolster Ukrainians’ morale, which has been dampened by months of slow, but steady Russian advances on the battlefield and devastating attacks on the country’s power grid.”

Again, treating them like children. Here are some dangerous toys since you asked enough times. Now go away and try not to bring about a world war.

Chaos and Surveillance in the U.K.

There have been protests in cities across the United Kingdom after young children were killed by a teenager who went on a stabbing rampage at a dance class last week.

Some of the protests turned violent but not all protestors were violent. Some of them are afraid because mass migration can lead to violence if there is no attempt to assimilate cultures. They want to know if the boy who murdered these young girls was on a watch list.

The government and the media says that these people are “far-right” because they held signs that said “Save Our Kids” and chanted “Christ is King.” Muslims marched alongside Christians because legal immigrants want a safe place to live too.

The government implemented emergency measures over the weekend such as keeping courts open around the clock “to fast-track sentencing under government plans to crack down on far-Right riots that swept Britain.”

New Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that anyone who participated in these protests would “regret taking part in this disorder,” even those who only supported it online but never showed up. His approval ratings are in the toilet.

News By The Numbers

$4 million. That is how much Beyoncé is reportedly planning to donate to the Kamala Harris presidential campaign. She will also attend Harris rallies and allow the Vice President to use her music.

9.79 seconds. That is how fast American sprinter Noah Lyles ran the 100 meter race in the Olympics, making him the fastest man in the world.

17%. That is the percentage of overall shoe sales that are high heel sales, a drop from 47% in 2014. Shoe experts think that the pandemic flattened people’s feet because no one wore high heels at home and now we are collectively less conditioned to them.

What’s Trending?

This video is trending of a Black activists named Michaelah Montgomery at a Trump rally saying that Kamala Harris has “hurt the black community” and accusing her of being the mistress of former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown. Brown had reportedly been separated from his wife by the time he dated Harris.

Novak Djokovic is trending because he won a gold medal at the Olympics which means that he’s now got a Golden Slam, which is “when an individual player wins all four Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, U.S. Open) and an Olympic gold medal in singles.” Only four other players in history have done this. Steffi Graf was the first, followed by Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.

Anthony Ammirati is trending because his testicles hit the crossbar during his pole vault at the Paris Olympics. The testicles are not the body part that disqualified the jump. His shins and then his knees hit first but that didn’t stop the Internet from being amused with it.

A Debate Or Not To Debate? That’s The Question

Will we get a debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris? The two are playing out their scheduling conflicts in public and it’s annoying.

A second debate between President Biden and Trump had been scheduled for September 10 on ABC News but the President is now in litigation with ABC News so that is a potential conflict of interest, he says. As if ABC News would otherwise be honorable if not for the litigation. President Trump says that the debate should happen on Fox News and proposed September 4 but the Vice President doesn’t agree to that. She says that President Trump should honor the agreement he made with President Biden but with her instead.

“I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all,” President Trump said on Truth Social.

The Vice President responded thusly on X: “It’s interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space.’ I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there.”

Calendaring as political drama is so dumb. The American people deserve the chance to observe this debate. They should show up for both and invite Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to participate.
