A handful of House Republicans are saying NO to the proposed spending package that would keep federal agencies funded through March 14. Lawmakers are debating this because the government is once again about to hit a debt limit on Saturday.

The proposed bill is 1,500 pages long and includes all kinds of non-emergency payments including $130 billion to renew the Farm Bill, $100 billion in disaster relief, $10 billion in stimulus for farmers, $8 billion to replace the Francis Scott Key Bridge, etc.

Several Republicans have said that they will not support this. A short list includes: Rep Keith Self, Rep. Nancy Mace Rep. Wesley Hunt Rep. Kat Cammack Rep. Andy Biggs Rep. Bob Good Rep. Paul Gosar Rep. Ralph Norman Rep. Tim Burchett Rep. Chip Roy

And of course Rep. Thomas Massie who warned about this December 20 deadline as a ruse to rush through a sham of a bill. He said this in September. He’s not a psychic, he’s a well-worn cynic and it’s high time we listened to him!

Speaker Johnson is promoting this bill as if this is the last time he’ll ask this of Congress since we will have a Republican-controlled Congress sin 2025. Rep Massie’s response is thus: “US foreign aid spending is like watering the neighbor’s yard while your house is on fire.”

The Killers

Luigi Mangione was charged with murder as an act of terrorism on Tuesday for the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is working to extradite him from Pennsylvania to New York.

Glorifying Mangione’s capitalist vengeance is a problem in the public square. A recent Rasmussen poll finds that “27% believe it was an understandable reaction to the high cost of health care in America. Another 12% are not sure.”

That means that nearly 40% of people either understand murder or are not sure if murder is bad when it comes to “social justice.” That’s how the Bolsheviks worked folks. That’s not good.

Nigel Farage

Can Elon Musk do for Nigel Farage what he did for President-elect Trump? By that we mean boost his candidacy in England with donations and endorsements?

The Telegraph reports that Musk may donate $100 million or £78 million to Farage so that he and the Reform UK party defeat both Labour and the Conservatives, which would position Farage as the next Prime Minister. Farage fueled these rumors with this post showing his recent visit with Musk at Mar-a-Lago.

A donation like that would be the largest in UK history. Would it even be legal for a U.S. citizen to donate to a U.K. politician? No, it’s not. Musk would have to give Reform money via the British branch of X, he could not do so personally.

An alignment with Musk is an indirect alignment with President-elect Trump and his policies and many Brits, Europeans and Canadians alike are searching for their Trump-like candidate amid raging crime, inflation and mass immigration. But does the world want a kingmaker in Elon Musk or would it be better for each country figure to figure out their own winning nationalist strategy? (Note: nationalism is NOT ethno-nationalism so stop calling it racist.)

Farage’s path to Downing Street would be a steep climb but stranger things have happened.

What’s Trending?

Arnold Schwarzenegger is trending because he posted this image of himself playing Santa Claus for an upcoming Christmas movie. It will be called “The Man with the Bag” and it has no release date.

Steve Harvey is trending because he fake died on the internet. That means that there were rumors of his death but they are not true.

Herschel Walker is trending because he was named by President-elect Trump as the ambassador to The Bahamas. He is a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL star. He is also a recent college graduate, finishing his degree this week at the University of Georgia 42 years after quitting college to play in the NFL. The Bahamas have been without a U.S. ambassador for more than a decade.

News By The Numbers

$3.99-$10.49. That is the price of the various offerings for Taco Bell’s new tortilla chip-breaded Crispy Chicken Nuggets. They also have three new dip pairings: the “exclusive new Hidden Valley™ Fire Ranch Sauce,” and brand new signature Bell Sauce and sweet and hot Jalapeño Honey Mustard Sauce. They go on sale Thursday.

$2 billion. That is how much the U.S. Navy “wasted” on four aging cruisers because of “poor planning, lax oversight and an unwillingness to hold private-sector contractors accountable for mistakes,” according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office. Boy that makes me feel like crap for having just paid my quarterly estimate.

98%. That is how many members of the Starbucks Union voted to authorize a strike if they can’t reach wage agreements with the coffee chain.

Disney Ditches Woke Show

credit: Pixar

Disney’s Pixar has pulled another transgender storyline from a show, this one called “Win or Lose.”

The show is about a middle school softball team and it features the backstory of one player per week. The show had planned a story line for a transgender child but scrapped it in the wake of backlash to woke entertainment.

This follows Disney’s canceled plans to include a transgender child in a show called “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.”

A spokesperson for Disney confirmed this and provided the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Way to catch up, Disney!
