In Case You Missed It

🇫🇷 French President Emmanuel Macron has announced he will appoint a new prime minister within 48 hours, following the abrupt resignation of Sébastien Lecornu amid political deadlock.

📰 Drop Site News reports that journalists including CNN’s Van Jones are mentoring young reporters in a fellowship that promotes pro-Israel coverage. The Irony is that Jones recently accused Iran and Qatar of funding paid propaganda in a tasteless joke he apologized for.

🔒 All 10 of the fugitives who escaped from prison in New Orleans in May have been recaptured, according to authorities.

🏫 California has passed a law targeting antisemitism in schools — a clear free speech violation, especially since early drafts even sought to outlaw criticism of Israel. Reminder: hate speech is protected speech.

Lead: Trump Declares Peace in the Middle East

President Trump declared that Hamas and Israel have agreed to the first phase of his peace plan. It is unclear if the final agreement includes all 21 points of his original proposal from last week.

He does say that the Israeli hostages will be released "very soon" but made no mention of the Palestinian hostages currently held by Israel. The initial does call for Israel to release the "250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th 2023."

That number does not include the roughly 4,000 Palestinians already in Israeli custody prior to October 7 due to their illegal practice of "administrative detention" – meaning their wellbeing remains a question mark.

President Trump says that "Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps." In the original plan, that line was about half-way between the border and the coast of the Gaza Strip.

Haaretz also reports that the IDF is preparing for a withdrawal but they have had no official instructions other than "the one published by U.S. President Donald Trump on social media, which does not provide sufficient clarity regarding the full implications of the proposed deal."

That would be almost comical if it weren’t so critical for the lives of civilians on both sides.

Will this peace deal hold? Well here is one positive sign. When President Trump has announced peace deals in the past. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu immediately puts a caveat on the plan. He did not do that on Wednesday. He appeared to indicate that he is on board and will comply.

There's No Tax Man

I hope you don't need the IRS because nearly half of the employees at the tax agency will be furloughed due to the government shut down. This means that they were put on unpaid leave until who knows when.

More than 34,000 IRS employees were given four hours to wrap up their work and go home on Wednesday. The same thing happened to employees at the Department of the Treasury.

You may be tempted to celebrate this out of hatred of the IRS and you would be in good company. But remember, real people work and now you as a taxpayer will get no customer service, no call center help, no refunds processed, and no relief if you’re stuck in a dispute. You’re still expected to pay your taxes, you just can't get any support as a taxpayer.

The shut down enters week 2 today and Democrats once again refused to pass a spending bill that would re-open the government.

Their holdout? They want to restore Medicaid benefits for undocumented migrants that were stripped from the Big Beautiful Bill. Citizens’ healthcare isn’t at stake — though they’re pretending it is.

They also want to erase new work requirements for Medicaid, even though those requirements wouldn’t take effect for another ten years.

None of this is a reasonable justification for putting working Americans out of a paycheck. This isn’t about protecting healthcare, it’s about protecting a talking point.

And the irony? The overall spending levels in this bill are the same ones Democrats already approved under Biden.

Second State Sues Roblox for Failing to Protect Kids

Roblox is full of child predators, according to a new lawsuit, and the company does not do enough to protect children.

According to a lawsuit filed by the Kentucky Attorney General, the wildly popular gaming platform knowingly exposes children to predators, violent content, and sexual material while falsely advertising itself as a safe environment for kids. Roblox is primarily used by children between the ages of 9 and 12.

The lawsuit accuses Roblox of violating Kentucky’s consumer protection laws by misrepresenting the platform’s safety, failing to require proper age verification, and allowing dangerous content to flourish in its so-called “experiences.”

Examples include user-created games that simulate graphic violence, including so-called “assassination simulators,” one of which featured the targeting of public figures like Charlie Kirk.

This is the second state to sue Roblox. Louisiana is also suing Roblox over similar claims. The company also faces several civil suits from families who say that their children were contacted by perverts on Roblox.

Roblox pushed back and said that they do have "rigorous safety measures" for their 111 million daily active users and that they are "constantly innovating" more.

Still probably best to watch your kids if they play Roblox.

What's Trending?

Katie Porter is trending because the frontrunner in next year’s California governor’s race is caught in a newly leaked pandemic-era video, trying to film a Department of Energy segment — and snapping at a staffer who steps into the frame to correct her. Without missing a beat, Porter glares and says, “Get out of my f*cking shot.” The masked woman seems accustomed to being spoken to like this. She is also trending for rudely walking out of a CBS News interview.

Gene Simmons is trending because the KISS frontman reportedly fainted while driving and crashed into a parked car. His wife claims that it was due to new medication.

Dolly Parton is trending because she released this video saying she's still alive and well after her sister warned that she was ill.

News By The Numbers

$800,000. That is how much Christian singer Chandler Moore claims that Maverick City Music CEO Norman Gyamfi withheld in royalties in a new lawsuit.

$156 million. That is the street value of the cocaine that was seized by the U.S. Coast Guard in the Eastern Pacific.

67%. That is how many Europeans support increased defense spending, down from 74% last year, according to a recent survey.

Remember Those “Climate Fires”? Yeah, It Was Arson

Remember when people were shouted down for suggesting that the January L.A. fires weren’t purely “natural”? Well, those people get an I told you so.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht for allegedly starting the Palisades Fire. The fire killed 12 people, destroyed thousands of homes, and caused billions of dollars in damage.

Based on what’s publicly available right now, it’s not entirely clear whether Jonathan Rinderknecht acted alone or if he’s just the identified arsonist tied to the ignition point.

Investigators say Rinderknecht intentionally ignited a small brush fire on January 1, which smoldered underground before erupting days later into the massive inferno that dominated national headlines.

Is this still the city's fault? YES! Just days before the fires broke out of control, the National Weather Service warned of extreme fire danger due to dry winds and heat. Authorities should have been actively patrolling the area for brush fire and arson but they failed to do that.

The media can be blamed too. Instead of investigating suspicious conditions, they rushed to blame “climate change.”

Now, with an arrest in hand, we know the truth: it wasn’t global warming. It was criminal negligence and arson.
