There are reportedly still 97 people missing after being taken into captivity by Hamas, one year after the October 7 attacks. At least 64 of them are believed to be alive. 

In the year since that attack on innocent people, only death and destruction have resulted for mostly civilians and the war has spread from Israel and Palestinian lands to Jordan, Yemen, Iran, Syria and Libya with no end in sight. 

Israel continues to claim a death count of senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders but terror groups don't work like that. Death is not a deterrent for their cause, it is only a motivator for fighting against what they see as oppressors. Failure to understand that cost the U.S. many deaths in Afghanistan. When will we learn? 

The civilians of Israel and Palestinian territories have very little say over what their leaders will do. In Israel, the Prime Minister has held on to power for an indeterminate amount of time and refuses to accept hostage exchange deals unless it allows Israeli forces to stay in Gaza in perpetuity. Hamas had very little support amongst the Palestinians when it launched the October 7 attacks and has only brought death and destruction on the people it represents. 

How many years will we honor the anniversary of October 7 while still warring over the original date? 

Massive Hurricane Milton Heading For Central Florida

Another hurricane is threatening to disrupt the Gulf Coast this week, Hurricane Milton. Pray that victims don't need the federal government's help in the wake of this one because the federal government has wet the bed trying to help victims in North Carolina from Hurricane Helene. 

Hurricane Milton is now a Category 5 storm expected to land on the West Coast of Florida by Wednesday. It's being called the largest storm in 100 years to take aim at Florida. 

Meanwhile, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says that the idea that they are out of money is "frankly ridiculous and just plain false." Deanne Criswell of FEMA spoke to ABC News' George Stephanopoulos about this over the weekend. She says that FEMA being out of money is a Republican talking point. 

Only it was Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who said it. The White House said that no FEMA aid went to illegal migrants, only the White House did say that funds for migrants came from FEMA in 2022. So if there is enough money, why did the Biden/Harris administration only approve funding for displaced victims of $750 per person and why are victims still struggling to receive that aid? Stories like this don't help. According to the Daily Mail: "In a virtual meeting from March 2023, FEMA Emergency Management Specialist Tyler Atkins alarmingly said the agency was prioritizing LGBTQ people because they are "already disadvantaged."

Marburg Strikes Rwanda

Rwanda began vaccinating its people for Marburg virus this weekend. Marburg is much like the Ebola virus. It causes a viral hemorrhagic fever, which can lead to bleeding from the nose and mouth. Symptoms can include lethargy, dehydration, nausea, vomiting, sore throat and abdominal pain. 

The WHO began warning about Marburg last year but a vaccine had not yet been tested on humans as of February of 2023. Now they say that it has not been tested on children so the vaccine rollout in Rwanda is for adults 18 years and older. 

In Rwanda, Marburg has reportedly caused 12 deaths and 46 confirmed cases.

That is how long passengers on a Qantas flight were forced to watch the R-rated film Daddio because the personal in-flight movie system wasn't working so they played the film for the whole plane. The crew put on the film and parents had to shield their children from it before they realized their mistake and turned it off. The airline apologized and said that they are reviewing how that happened. 

Snow Woke and The Seven Dwarves

The actress who will play the lead in the upcoming Disney film Snow White says that the character is "named for her resilience not pale complexion." 

Rachel Zegler is of Colombian descent. Disney fans have questioned her casting given she has badmouthed the original tale and is clearly not a description from the 1812 Grimm tale that describes the princess as having “skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony.”

Zegler says that Snow White was thusly named for surviving a snow storm as a baby. Okay. I wonder how many babies will be named Milton in the wake of the upcoming hurricane.
