Lead: U.S. Pulls A Fast One in Israel

credit: thedefensepost.com

President Biden told CNN that he would stop sending bombs to Israel if they launched a major invasion of Rafah. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reiterated this to Congress on Wednesday.

This is a sleight of hand. They are trying to make it seem as if the invasion of Rafah that began this week was done with restraint because of U.S. caution.

Was it though? At least 13 children were killed in Rafah on Wednesday’s military operation according to some reports. And a U.S. official told The Washington Post that “the Israeli military has enough weapons supplied by the U.S. and other partners to conduct the Rafah operation if it chooses to cast aside U.S. objections."

So the U.S. gave them all that they needed so they can pretend that they’re not going to give them anymore. Who buys this public posturing?

Illegal Immigrants Counted as Voters in New House Bill (you read that right)

credit: blaze

The House passed a bill that will allow states to count illegals in order to give them representation in Congress and the Electoral College. The bill now heads to the Senate.

This is H.R.7109, the Equal Representation Act. It requires the census to count every person in a house and adjust congressional representation accordingly, "whether that individual is a citizen of the United States [or not].” This clearly shifts the balance of legislative and executive power for states that have allowed illegal immigrants and dilutes the will of American citizens.

Meanwhile, in Denver, migrants have refused to comply with Mayor Mike Johnston’s orders to clear an encampment until their demands are met. They have a list of what they expect before they will evacuate tent cities and move to city shelters. Demands include that they “cook their own food with fresh, culturally appropriate ingredients provided by the City instead of premade meals – rice, chicken, flour, oil, butter, tomatoes, onions, etc… Also people will not be punished for bringing in & eating outside food.” They also are demanding “unlimited shower access without time limits,” regular medical care and easy referral to specialists, and no monitoring of shelters by law enforcement.

Ukraine's Body Snatchers Strike Again

Ukrainian people snatchers grab a young man forcing him into military service credit: telegram

Ukrainian football (soccer) teams are refusing to travel for matches after the government kidnapped a player who was traveling for a game and threw him straight into military service. The player in question was only 25 years old. Ukraine's current laws require men to be 28 for military service. The laws lowering the military age to 26 have yet to go into effect.

Some football clubs have been given military exemptions but not all. The FC Khust club is appealing to the national sports associations and the regional military to “help save Ukrainian football."

On Wednesday, Ukrainian lawmakers passed a bill that also allows prisoners to be sent into military service. MP Olena Shuliak said that this was only for “prisoners who expressed a desire to defend their country” and that mobilization would be “voluntary and open only to certain categories of prisoners.” Voluntary like this

Democrats Scramble to Win Votes with Medical Debt Scheme

credit: ap

Democratic lawmakers introduced a bill to cancel all existing medical debt in the U.S., which is estimated at $220 billion.

The bill would wipe medical debt off credit reports, make it “illegal to collect medical debt incurred prior to the bill’s enactment, and create a private right of action for patients,” and be introduced by Senators Bernie Sanders, Jeff Merkley, Ro Khanna, and Rashida Tlaib.

Like student debt legislation, it does not fix the system to prevent future medical debt. Health care providers can still surge prices, up-charge according to patients’ insurance and run up patients’ bills as they see fit. The bill is a bandaid on a broken system and it most likely won’t get the support it needs to pass because too many lawmakers get money from that broken system.
