The world is heavy right now, but First Lady Melania Trump’s fashion on her UK trip was a welcome diversion.

In Case You Missed It

🇺🇸 The U.S. has “indefinitely suspended” diplomacy with Kosovo due to concerns about “increased tensions and instability.”

🛂 A U.S. immigration judge has ordered pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil — a legal permanent resident and former Columbia student — to be deported to Syria or Algeria after ruling that he willfully omitted information (including ties to UNRWA and campus activism) on his green card application; his lawyers have vowed to appeal.

🍦 Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, has resigned, saying Unilever has “silenced” the brand’s social activism (especially over Gaza), eroding the independence he thought was guaranteed when Ben & Jerry’s merged with Unilever. Watch his recent interview on Redacted for more about his convictions.

🇬🇧 Britain is preparing to formally recognize a Palestinian state this weekend, following President Trump’s UK state visit and amid pressure over Gaza, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer warning it will move forward unless Israel meets certain conditions like a ceasefire and ending annexation.

🎓 China’s urban youth unemployment rate hit 18.9% in August — its highest level under the revised calculation system since late 2023 — as over 12 million new university graduates compete for shrinking opportunities amid economic slowdown and weak demand.

The Lead: Trump Calls Antifa Terrorists. Legally, That’s Not How It Works

The Trump administration has declared Antifa as a terrorist organization. The President also said that he “will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”

Liberal organizations are saying that Antifa isn’t real. Oh yes it is.

Antifa is a decentralized but organized movement with networks, funding streams, and a long track record of violence — from riots and arson to assaults on journalists and police. Pretending it doesn’t exist is gaslighting. Americans have seen the black bloc mobs in Portland, Seattle, and beyond. They aren’t imaginary. They are coordinated, destructive, and proud of it.

Here’s the thing: the U.S. government has a formal system for labeling foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs), but not domestic ones. So when the Trump administration declares Antifa a terrorist organization, it’s political more than legal.

What it does do: it gives federal agencies cover to ramp up surveillance, investigate funding, and treat Antifa with the same urgency they’d give to an overseas network.

What it doesn’t do: it doesn’t create a new category of domestic crimes. Rioting, arson, and assault were already illegal. Trump’s declaration is about political will, not new legal powers.

Jimmy Kimmel Yanked Off Air After Spreading False Claim About Charlie Kirk Shooter

Jimmy Kimmel has been suspended “indefinitely” from his role hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC’s late night talk show.

On Monday, Kimmel claimed that the alleged Charlie Kirk shooter was MAGA. He either made that up or his manipulated algorithm fed it to him — but why didn’t his staff fact-check it? The alleged shooter was not MAGA. According to the indictment, his own mother said he was a radical leftist. There has never been proof that he was MAGA, so why would Kimmel say otherwise?

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Kimmel was planning to address the controversy on Wednesday’s show but not to apologize because he apparently was not sorry. He never got a chance because network syndicators Nexstar and Sinclair announced that they would not carry his show to their markets and ABC pulled him from the show shortly after.

This came just hours after FCC Chair Brendan Carr said that the agency could open an investigation about the incident. That would be a step too far. The marketplace should handle this — not the government. The First Amendment guarantees freedom from government prosecution of speech.

ABC and its affiliates are free to decide what they air, but the FCC should not be in the business of policing late-night monologues.

Some say Nexstar acted under government pressure. That’s possible. It’s also possible the network genuinely found these remarks deplorable and didn’t want them tied to their brand. As someone who has worked in TV for decades, those are the breaks. Network executives have no loyalty to their talent if it costs them in the ratings. I had a friend who was fired because her hair was deemed too frizzy.

I think that ABC is using this as an excuse to get rid of its late-night show the same way CBS did because he was bleeding viewers. It’s a bonus that they can blame Trump for it. These shows are money losers and, as one Google Review of Jimmy Kimmel Live put it, “Boomer TV.”

Charlie Loved Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a strange video on X denying that Israel had anything to do with the death of Charlie Kirk and re-iterating that “Charlie loved Israel.”

This is in reference to allegations by Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, both verifiably close personal friends of Kirk, who say that Kirk did not like the Israeli Prime Minister, disagreed with him on the war with Iran, and had been pulling back from his long-standing allegiance to Israel. Importantly, neither of them claimed Israel had anything to do with Kirk’s murder.

Netanyahu countered that none of this was true, that he and Kirk were bros, and suggested that those spreading otherwise were probably funded by Qatar.

It’s a strange move. Don’t listen to his close friends — he was with me 100%. It feels desperate, and frankly disrespectful, to put words into the mouth of someone who can no longer speak for himself.

Why make this video at all? Netanyahu is in the middle of wars not only with the Palestinians, but also with Syria, Yemen, and Iran. So why stop everything to put this out?

Here’s one guess: Israel has lost the support of nearly every young person, the majority of Democrats, and is even bleeding Republicans. If a long-time Zionist-supporter like Charlie Kirk really had lost faith in Israel, that perception can only accelerate the erosion.

Gaza is a “real estate bonanza”!

Gaza is a “real estate bonanza”! Just like we knew it would be!

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that the Trump administration and the Israeli government were divvying up Gaza real estate for President Trump’s plan.

Smotrich called it a “business plan.” It involves kicking out the Palestinians and putting the territory under U.S. control, replete with U.S. investments.

Smotrich added: “This plan was built by the most professional people there are,” adding that it now sits on U.S. President Donald Trump’s desk. “We are checking how this becomes a real estate bonanza—I’m not joking—and pays for itself.”

Smotrich and other Israeli officials have spoken in similar terms about the West Bank, treating occupied land as a development opportunity for settlements and foreign investment. Gaza, in that view, is simply the next piece of the portfolio.
