🚨 Diet Coke Break – January 21 2025

Ground News

Happy Tuesday.

The Oval Office once again has a Diet Coke button for President Trump to summon his favorite drink at will. This was a staple of his first term. My daughter wants to know if she can get one for boba tea.

Lead: Trump Administration, Day 1

credit: nytimes

President Trump on Day 1 signed more than 200 executive actions, 46 executive orders and 115 personnel actions. He gave three speeches, went to three balls and spoke at length with reporters for over an hour in the Oval Office. You can read the full transcript of his inauguration speech here.

It was a marathon Day 1! He is 78 years old. I am 46 and I went to bed before all the ceremonies had ended. President Biden was also 78 years old when he took office in 2021.

The President rescinded 78 Biden Era executive orders. A list of his laws can be found here. Here is a list of the more notable ones that will affect the American people immediately:

Biden Pardons

credit: Justice.gov

Just minutes before the Biden Administration ended, President Biden released this bombshell pardon for his family members, just hours after he issued preemptive pardons for Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley and the Members of Congress and staff who served on the Select Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers who testified before the Select Committee.

This is something President Biden had promised he would not do but at this point, his promises are moot.

But why would his family members need pardons? Because they peddled foreign influence for financial gain and we all now know it. Not only did they do that, the FBI “prebunked” it before the 2020 election.

Any why would Dr. Fauci, General Milley and members of Congress need pardons? If you’ve been paying attention, you know this too.

These pardons only apply to federal prosecutions. A state may still decide to investigate any of these people and some reports show that Florida is in fact doing just that to Dr. Fauci.

A pardon would also nullify these people’s ability to plead the Fifth Amendment so if they were subpoenaed, they could still be held liable for some crimes. In theory.

However, President Trump signed an order to end the “weaponization of the Federal Government against the American people.” This could be construed as an out for prosecuting the Bidens for the sake of moving forward. I hope it’s not.

President Trump fired over 1,000 Biden appointees in one fell swoop. He started with these four people in a Truth Social post and warned that more would be coming:

“Jose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council—YOU’RE FIRED!”

He went on to remove Linda Lee Fagan, the first female leader the Coast Guard, reportedly “over her excessive focus on diversity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.”

The first member of the Trump cabinet was approved by Congress on Monday afternoon. Marco Rubio will be sworn in today as the Secretary of State, God help us.

WHO “Regrets” The U.S. Withdrawal

credit: cnn

The World Health Organization did not take the breakup well. President Trump withdrew the United States from the WHO on Monday. In a statement, the organization said that it “regrets the announcement.”

They say that they “hope the United States will reconsider and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue to maintain the partnership between the USA and WHO, for the benefit of the health and well-being of millions of people around the globe.”

When President Trump signed the withdrawal, he said that the U.S. was overpaying for WHO membership. He said that the U.S. had been paying $500 million, while China with a far larger population was paying $39 million. He indicates here that he had negotiated a $39 million membership during his first administration but President Biden, knowing about that deal, still paid $500 million.

Did President Biden know that and pay the premium with U.S. tax dollars anyway!? WHY!?

President Trump said that the money “wasn’t the reason” but the WHO may cling to that and try to renegotiate the fee. In a Pandemic Preparedness document from 2023, the WHO had tried to establish membership fees based on “an evaluation matrix for assessing contributions to State Parties” based on audits of each country’s budget. This document was never ratified.

The WHO’s Pandemic Preparedness had also given the organization a litany of powers that would supersede sovereignty. It was a terrifying document and no state should agree to it. Will any state agree to it now or is this the beginning of the end of the WHO?
