🏴 The Scottish government will investigate former first minister Humza Yousaf over a £250,000 donation made by Edinburgh to the UN Palestinian refugee agency, UNRWA, when his relatives were trapped in Gaza.
⚽️ The Copa America was delayed on Sunday as fans without tickets rushed the stadium and caused pandemonium, even destroying an escalator. How does that happen!?
Former President Trump gave an interview to the New York Post about his near-death experience after a sniper failed to take his life on Saturday. According to the Post, “what would have been a kill shot tore off a small piece of his ear and splattered blood on his forehead and cheek.”
The Post says that the President is wearing a bandaid but his staff would not allow the wound to be photographed.
The President plans to honor all of his original commitments at this week’s Republican National Commitment and, according to Fox News, he has asked speakers to deliver their original “pre-assassination attempt” speeches because he wants voters to focus on the issues. He will presumably announce his Vice Presidential pick, and it will not be a repeat nomination for Mike Pence. The comments on the former VP’s “thoughts and prayers” post on X are comic relief if you are in need of any. It’s the same story for the Tweets from Nancy Pelosi and Leticia James.
The FBI says that it is taking the lead in investigating the Trump shooting. Director Christopher Wray said this at a press conference on Sunday: “The American people can rest assured that we will leave no stone unturned as we work to get to the bottom of what happened yesterday.”
While the FBI focuses on the motive of the shooter, the American people also want answers for how he was able to set himself up for a shot so close to an American President on a rooftop in plain daylight. The BBC was the first to report that multiple people shouted out to warn law enforcement about this man. The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement officer climbed up on the roof and confronted the shooter before climbing back down again without stopping him.
They also want to know why President Trump’s Secret Service was so full of small women. It’s a valid question. Many of the Secret Service agents who were seen shuffling the President away from the scene of the crime were much smaller than him. The head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, has previously said that she wanted to “attract diverse candidates” and that she aimed to have 30% female recruits by 2030. Why is that a priority? Shouldn’t the baseline priority of the Secret Service be to have the biggest, baddest human bodies working to secure their charge? Do we have any like this?
The Executive Office of the Presidency is responsible for the Secret Service, which is why President Biden has to answer for this. He says that he has directed an independent review of the incident. the House Oversight Committee Chairman announced that it has opened an investigation into the shooting too and has “invited U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify at a hearing on Monday, July 22.”

It’s the classic “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
Instead of showing their viewers what it means to be the bigger person and show empathy for the opposition, MSNBC’s Morning Joe decided not to broadcast at all today. The Daily Show also canceled at least one day of its planned coverage of the Republican National Convention. They say it is due to “logistical issues and the evolving situation” but most of us read that as an excuse for not being able to poke fun of President Trump with wild abandon in the way they would like to.
Do you need any more proof that the legacy media is biased and self-serving? Especially after the denialist headlines that ran in the aftermath of the shooting such as this:
The Telegraph headline: ‘Shooting’ at Trump rally.
CNN: “Secret Service rushes Trump off sage after he falls at rally”
The Washington Post: “Trump escorted away after loud noises at Pa. rally”
Why are they doing this? Because their business model is only to garner clicks by taking shots at Trump clearly and admitting that their rhetoric is divisive would not serve that interest.
Kate Middleton is trending because she received a standing ovation on Sunday when she attended the Wimbledon finals. She has been mostly absent from the public eye all year, and the public is glad to see her out and about.
50 feet. That is the depth of a cave that one lucky dog was rescued from in Colorado. A caver rescued the dog by offering it a piece of salami.
$10.65 trillion. That is the value of assets owned by BlackRock, according to second quarter reportings. Reuters reports that it has to do with a bull stock market and the “soft landing for the U.S. economy.” Soft for who exactly?
The question was “whether private citizen Jack Smith lacks authority to represent the United States.” The judge ruled that he did in fact lack such authority since special counsels are supposed to be appointed by the President and Congress.
