Lead: Election

Polls schmolls. No one knows how this is going to work out so try not to get overly emotional today. Big ask, I know.
A few major court cases seem to indicate that there are at least some people who want this system to work. In Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled that no election office can extend voting to accept ballots after Election Day. In Pennsylvania, a court ruled that absentee ballots without proper dates cannot be counted. Another court in Pennsylvania ruled that Elon Musk’s political action committee’s $1 million per day voter sweepstakes can continue after it was challenged by the state’s Attorney General.
Pennsylvania is obviously a biggie. Philadelphia was the location of the New Black Panther Party’s voter intimidation in the 2008 election. The Justice Department prosecuted and won the case but the Obama administration forced them to drop the case because the victims were white.
On the eve of the election, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said this about anyone planning any such thing today. “F around and find out.”
A U.S. soldier died in Gaza while constructing the pier that was destroyed within weeks. Why are U.S. soldiers dying for this war again?
CNN reports that Sgt. Quandarius Davon Stanley, 23, was one of three US service members hurt in May. He died last week from those injuries.
“Stanley was injured while supporting the mission that delivered humanitarian aid to Gaza in May 2024 and was receiving treatment in long-term care medical center,” Capt. Shkeila Milford-Glover, a spokesman for the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, said Monday.
Does the U.S. really care about aid to Gaza? On Monday, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller joked about it. When asked by the Associated Press why Israel has failed to meet requests for more aid, Miller joked that “it’s not the end of the semester” as if this war is on an academic year calendar so midterm grades don’t count. Would he feel this way if his family died during the midterm blitz?
Matt Lee, a reporter for the AP responded: “I suspect that the levity is a little bit inappropriate.” Especially in light of an American death in a conflict that we have not declared a war.

Plant Vaccines

What the heck are Transgenic Edible Vaccines? The American people should know about it given that they are funding it.
Transgenic Edible Vaccines are vaccines that are disguised as food. Or food that has vaccines bred into it.
Representative Thomas Massie said this about it from the House floor:
“Does the term transgenic edible vaccine sound far-fetched? Well, it’s not. We’re funding it. In fact, scientists from the University of California, Riverside, funded with your taxpayer dollars, have been studying whether they can turn edible plants such as lettuce and spinach into mRNA vaccine factories, thereby creating a transgenic edible vaccine. One associate professor at UCR explained that, ideally a single plant would produce enough mRNA to vaccinate a single person. We are testing this approach with spinach and lettuce and have long-term goals of people growing it in their own gardens. Farmers could also eventually grow entire fields of it.”
What the holy heck!? Eat your broccoli, darling, it has vaccines in it.
Massie continued: “I don’t think this is a good idea. I don’t think the American people should be funding this.”
Yikes! Do you agree with him?
Algerian Boxer

The Algerian boxer who competed in the Paris Olympics is in the news again. A newly-released medical report for Imane Khelif reveals that she does not have a uterus but does have “internal testicles and a ‘micropenis’ resembling an enlarged clitoris. A chromosomal test further confirmed that Khelif has an XY karyotype, while a hormone test found that Khelif had a testosterone level typical of males.”
This means she is a hermaphrodite, not a trans man in women’s sports. She was raised as a girl. Reduxx reports that this is a “genetic abnormality [that] influences the normal development of a child’s sexual organs. At birth, male babies impacted by 5-alpha are often incorrectly assigned female due to the presence of deformed genitalia that sometimes takes on the appearance of a ‘blind vaginal pouch.’ This disordered development typically becomes apparent by puberty, when 5-alpha adolescents begin to experience signs of masculinization such as muscle growth, hair growth, and an absence of breast tissue development or menstruation. Without access to a proper clinical examination, males with 5-alpha may incorrectly believe they are female into adulthood.”
Does this give her an unfair advantage over female competitors? Did she know that it would or could?
This is more of a sad story than a gotcha story. She was raised as a girl, she did not choose to identify as one. Most women would not object to her in a bathroom in the way that they would a trans man. Or would they?
