Lead: Save The Date

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the invasion of Rafah in Southern Gaza has a date set. He did not share the date though.

This comes after Israel withdrew from some areas including the city of Khan Yunis, or rather what is left of that city.

“This victory requires entry into Rafah and the elimination of the terrorist battalions there. It will happen – there is a date,” Netanyahu said.

He is pressing on with this plan even though the international community does not support it and neither do the people of Israel. A new poll shows that 71% of Israelis want Netanyahu to resign and for elections to be moved to an earlier date.

Ceasefire talks were held in Egypt on Monday but both sides say that no progress was made.

Trump’s Abortion Stance

President Trump laid out his stance on abortion and fertility in a new campaign video. For single-issue abortion voters, this is an important clarification.

The former president says that he supports the end of Roe v. Wade and that each state must decide on its own abortion laws.

“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land,” he said. “Many states will be different…At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people.”

He correctly states that even pro-abortion legal scholars knew that Roe v. Wade was a problematic law enforcing a federal law where a state law should be. He says that he supports abortion “exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother.”

Brazil Não Fica Bem

The government of Brazil is going after free speech on X hard. Brazil demanded that X shut down accounts and Elon Musk refused. As a result, the government has launched a criminal investigation into Musk for allegedly spreading disinformation, obstructing justice, and allowing people to freely express their views.

This is being led by Federal Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Journalist Michael Shellenberger is in Brazil to cover this and he warns in this video that “De Moraes has taken Brazil one step closer to being a totalitarian dictatorship. What’s more, the events of the last few weeks make clear that Elon Musk is the only thing standing in the way of global totalitarianism. Without free speech, there can be no democracy.”

But Musk has not backed down. Brazil continues to retalliate and now says that it will consider revoking Starlink contracts. Some are reporting that X employees in Brazil have been warned that they too could be arrested.

This is one of the most terrifying authoritarianism we’ve seen against speech in a world of increasing authoritarianism. And the media is complicit. As Shellenberger points out, “with few exceptions, they spread disinformation and government propaganda as a matter of policy. Nobody demands censorship more than the corporate media, which benefit from governments shutting down their competitors.”

News By The Numbers

70. That is how old Jackie Chan turned last weekend. He posted these old photos to mark the occassion this weekend.

12. That is how many seasons Curb Your Enthusiasm ran. The series finale was on Sunday and fans seemed to like it.

6. That is how many floors up country singer Morgan Wallen was on a rooftop bar when he threw a chair over the railing to the street where it landed by police officers. He was charged with reckless endangerment. His mug shot has gone viral for being so chipper.

What’s Trending?

The Masters are trending because the golf tournament begins this weekend but pre-tournament events began on Monday.

Eid al-Fitr is trending because that happened on Monday. It is the holiday to mark the end of Ramadan for Muslims. If a crescent moon can be seen in the sky, it ends the fasting. In Saudia Arabia a moon was not observed so fasting will continue for one more day.

C.J. Snare is trending because the lead singer for FireHouse died at the age of 64.

Crumbling Gender Ideology

Two important stories about transgender ideology are worth noting.

The first is a new study that shows that most children grow out of gender dysphoria by the time they reach adulthood. This is one of the largest studies of its kind showing that over 90% of the subjects did not have gender non-contentedness by the time they are in their early 20s. This confirms what serious researchers have long known: that puberty is the very process that resolves gender dysphoria for the majority of people.

Also, the Vatican has declared that sex-changes are an affront to God. This is from a document called the “Declaration Dignitas Infinita, on human dignity.” In addition to the church’s stance on surrogacy and abortion, the church now says that “The dignity of the body cannot be considered inferior to that of the person as such” and that “any sex-change intervention, as a rule, risks threatening the unique dignity the person has received from the moment of conception.”

This was a highly-anticipated document that solidifies the church’s stance on modern issues.
