Lead: Inflation

Inflation was up in November to 2.7%. That is 0.1% higher than October, even though the Biden administration says that they have been controlling inflation with the Inflation Reduction Act.

The core CPI was at 3.3% on an annual basis and 0.3% monthly.

These numbers will likely push the Federal Reserve into another interest rate cut when they meet next week but it won’t do much unless government spending is curbed. The Biden administration will not do that in their remaining 40 days, in fact they’re doing the opposite. This week they pledged $16.7 billion for a 10-year plan to revive Native Languages.

In Argentina, the government did cut spending and President Javier Milei announced that the government deficit ended for the first time in 123 years.

“The deficit was the root of all our evils—without it, there’s no debt, no emission, no inflation,” the President said. “Today, we have a sustained fiscal surplus, free of default, for the first time in 123 years. This historic achievement came from the greatest adjustment in history and reducing monetary emission to zero. A year ago, a degenerate printed 13% of GDP to win an election, fueling inflation. Today, monetary emission is a thing of the past.”

Is this a duplicatable template for the United States?

Ukraine Aid

The United States said that it “transferred the $20 billion U.S. portion of a $50 billion G7 loan for Ukraine to a World Bank intermediary fund for economic and financial aid.”

This is money that was promised from “frozen Russian sovereign assets.” Or rather, money stolen from Russians. The loan will be paid back with the interest of those stolen funds.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen reportedly personally oversaw staff executing the wire transfer of the $20 billion to the World Bank fund.

“These funds — paid for by the windfall proceeds earned from Russia’s own immobilized assets — will provide Ukraine a critical infusion of support as it defends its country against an unprovoked war of aggression,” she said in a statement. “The $50 billion collectively being provided by the G7 through this initiative will help ensure Ukraine has the resources it needs to sustain emergency services, hospitals and other foundations of its brave resistance.”

Ukraine can now draw upon this loan to fund its war with Russia, even though Ukraine has made no grounds fighting Russia in over two years.

Gaetz Leak

Democrats leaked details of a report on Florida Representative Matt Gaetz to the press. Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be.

Pennsylvania Representative Susan Wild reportedly admitted to leaking details of the report. She is a member of the House Ethics Committee so there is irony there.

The House compiled a report on Gaetz related to accusation of sexual relationships with minors. He was never charged by the FBI because the main witness to the accusations was not credible because he himself had a sexual relationship with the same minor and had falsely accused political opponents in the past. The House decided that wasn’t good enough for them and conducted their own investigation.

Geatz had been nominated for Attorney General but withdrew his nomination in the wake of these allegations.

The information that Wild leaked was not damning to Gaetz but pertained to details of the panel’s investigation, which is a violation of the committee’s own rules.

Wild was voted out of office in November so she won’t be around long to face consequences but she should. As the New York Post put it, “Democrats are in an ethical free fall.”

State Department

The Global Engagement Center will be shutting down and that feels like an early Christmas! This is a State Department hired gun that censors speech and funds full-on propaganda. Good riddance!

Where do you know this group? From the Twitter Files. Journalist Matt Taibbi showed that the State Department used the GEC to flag accounts posting about information that they didn’t like. They say that they were only tracking and flagging foreign citizens but that wasn’t true. Many people they targeted were Americans.

Taibbi said that they “funded a secret list of subcontractors and helped pioneer an insidious – and idiotic – new form of blacklisting.”

Former State Department official Mike Benz tells more about the nefarious workings of the GEC here. Their reports are always heavy on bull-honkey Russia/China misinformation warnings.

Why are they closing? They’re being sued left and right that’s why. The State Department says that it will move the GEC staff and funding to other bureaus “aimed at fighting foreign disinformation.”

What’s Trending?

Caitlin Clark is trending for being named TIME Magazine’s Athlete of the Year. In the interview, she speaks about her white privilege and says that the WMBA was built on “built on” Black players. She says other things too but that bit is getting the most attention.

This video is trending of young black boys learning to dine in the Continental style. It was made by a charity called Life Preparatory School for Boys, which is a “charitable organization with a mission to teach boys the true meaning of manhood & to be protectors and providers for their communities.”

Kimberly Guilfoyle is trending because she has been appointed as the U.S. ambassador to Greece. She is the former wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, a former prosecutor of San Francisco, a former Fox News personality and it would seem the former fiancé of Donald Trump Jr. They have not announced their breakup but some are saying that his congratulatory X post is “one hell of a breakup letter.”
