Happy Tuesday.

Ukrainian President Zelensky says that the Ukrainian people oppose holding elections and prefer him to remain in power. He is a dictator who canceled elections to remain in power and he says that his people like it that way. If only there was a way to check that with, oh, say, an election or something?

Lead: Chinese Spy Balloon?

credit: Reuters

Newsweek reports that the 2023 “Chinese Spy Balloon” was “packed with American technology that could have enabled it to spy on Americans.” How do they know that? They cite “two sources with direct knowledge of a technical analysis conducted by the U.S. military.”

Note the language here: The Chinese could have used this to spy on the U.S. because it had U.S. technology. Is there any proof that the Chinese had anything to do with it? There is not. The article is full of hypotheticals.

The “technology that could have military uses to main adversary China as well as to countries such as Russia and Iran…”

“The ballon might also have been carrying launchable gliders that could collect more detailed data, since it had empty storage bays…”

Okay. Iraq also could have had weapons of mass destruction but that turned out to be a lie. Nevertheless, before the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, Newsweek published government propaganda to support that lie and promote the war. They should no longer get the benefit of the doubt with unnamed “sources.”

Democrats and Corruption: LOL

credit: Senate Democrats

Senate Democrats are suddenly interested in government corruption. They launched this website. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says that it is for “anyone who wants to expose corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety with the legal protections of being a whistleblower.”

The U.S. government already has a portal for whistleblowers. It can be found at Whisteblowers.gov. Why in the world would anyone want to report corruption straight to the Democrats? They lied about Joe Biden’s mental fitness and then couped him, they hid the Biden family corruption, they lied about the war in Ukraine and profited from it, they have funneled copious money into pet projects overseas, they lied about the economy to try to win the election, they punished FBI whistleblowers who spoke out about January 6 prosecutions, they turned the other cheek when victims of civil unrest were not the skin color they claim to promote. I could go on all day.

So why do you think the Democrats are suddenly interested in exposing corruption?

Eric Adams Case Dismissed

credit: bbc.com

The Department of Justice has ordered the case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams dismissed without prejudice. This means that the case may be brought back later.

The new DOJ under President Trump is doing this to protect Mayor Adams, a Democrat, and his ability to campaign for re-election this November. The Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove writes that “the timing of the charges and more recent public actions by the former U.S. Attorney responsible for initiating the case have threatened the integrity of the proceedings” He continues that “it cannot be ignored that Mayor Adams criticized the prior Administration’s immigration policies before the charges were filed, and the former U.S. Attorney’s public actions created appearances of impropriety.”

The directive means that the case can be brought back up after the election. Here we have an acting AG that is concerned about a precedence of candidates being tried for cases as a smear campaign, even one of the opposing party of his boss. That’s really something.

The AG is careful to state that he is not assessed “the strength of the evidence or the legal theories on which the case is based.” We did that and the case seemed rather thin. The government evidence has his staff offering to pay full price for his travel while being offered discounts. Adams has explained plainly that he was prosecuted by the Biden Justice Department and it is hard to see it any other way.

What’s Trending?

Fort Bragg is trending because the Secretary of State Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum to rename Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg. It was named Fort Liberty in 2023 by the National Defense Authorization Act, which aimed to remove names with Confederate history.

Rod Blagojevich is trending because he was pardoned by President Trump.

SpaceX is trending because the company launched 23 Starlink V2 Mini satellites from California on Monday.

News By The Numbers

8,000. That is how many Bitcoins were on a hard drive wallet that a man in the U.K. accidentally threw away in 2013. It would now be worth over $775 million. The man wants to buy the local trash landfill to look for it after the city denied him permission to excavate the dump. He would have to search through 1.4 million tonnes of waste.

9. That is how many people have been documented to go blind from taking Ozempic.

18. That is how many missions U.S. spy planes have flown across the Southern Border since President Trump took office, according to CNN. They are reportedly there to increase “surveillance of Mexican drug cartels.”

JFK Files Delayed

The FBI says that there are more than 2,400 files that pertain to the JFK assassination that have not been reviewed and they therefore cannot release them to the public yet. President Trump signed an executive order to declassify information about President Kennedy’s assassination but now the FBI says that they can’t.

A Trump aide reportedly called this snag “total Deep State bullshit.” Agreed. The Daily Mail reports the aide also said this: ” When POTUS hears about this stonewalling, he’s gonna hit the roof.”

Jefferson Morley, a commenter on the Kennedy murder, had a different take. He told Axios: “This is huge. It shows the FBI is taking this seriously. The FBI is finally saying, ‘Let’s respond to the president’s order,’ instead of keeping the secrecy going.”

I don’t share his enthusiasm. It asks us all to believe that there are 2,400 files relating to the assassination of an American President that the FBI was previously unaware of? I cannot believe that.
