Welcome to California kiddos! A British punk band was robbed at gunpoint in Northern California on the first day of their U.S. tour. “Police response was ‘submit an online report.'” That’s not punk at all, is it?

Lead: Not Peace – for Ukraine
credit: x
The Biden administration committed another $750 million in aid to Ukraine. This is, as promised, the Biden administration’s attempts to give as much as possible before the President leaves office.
But Ukraine has done nothing with the billions that the U.S. has already sent. NATO head Mark Rutte admitted that “Russia is making gains along the frontline.” Ukraine is hardly even defending the front line so what are they doing with all that aid?
Rutte also said that Ukraine needs more money and less discussions of peace. NATO is supposed to be a defensive organization that “promotes peace and security.” What a joke.
Chad Chronister has withdrawn his bid to become head of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) after being nominated by President-elect Donald Trump.
He says that it is because there is still work to be done in his own county where he is currently sheriff. That’s probably not the real reason.
Trump supporters were outraged by this appointment. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he ordered the arrest of a pastor for holding services and Constitutionalists have not forgotten.
Among the President-elect’s other nominations, many are also worried about the appointment of Charles Kushner as the ambassador to France. Kushner was pardoned by President Trump while leaving office in 2020 after he “was convicted of preparing false tax returns, retaliating against a cooperating witness, and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission in 2005.” Kushner did in fact serve time for this so the pardon only erased it from his record.
Still, the President-elect had promised not to hire members of his own family this time around so how did this guy get this role? Do we consider in-laws family?

Deportation Road

A panel of three judges for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that the federal government has the authority to deport foreign nationals in the U.S. illegally.
The court was considering a 2019 executive order filed in King County, Washington, by County Executive Dow Constantine. The order prevented the first Trump administration from using a local airport to deport migrants. The Trump administration sued and won the case, which prompted the county to appeal. This latest ruling upholds the original win..
The court ruled that local governments cannot “[interfere] with or [control] the operations of the Federal Government.”
This does not bode well for California Governor Gavin Newsom’s repeated promises to stop deportations in his state.
Meanwhile, authorities in Mexico dissolved two caravans of would-be illegal immigrants heading to the United States. According to reports, “migrant activists said this week that some were bused to cities in southern Mexico, and others were offered transit papers. Migrant rights activist Luis Garcia Villagran said the breaking-up of the two caravans appeared to be part of “an agreement between the president of Mexico and the president of the United States.”
This comes after President-elect Donald Trump threatened to levy a 25 percent tariff on imports from Mexico.
Trouble in Gotham

New York City looks more like Gotham City every day! Today, the CEO of UnitedHealth was fatally shot in the chest on his way to his annual investor meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
Police said they didn’t know the suspect’s motive but many online speculate that this was a targeted attack. The suspect is still at large but police say that they do not believe that he or she is a “threat to the public.”
This comes as the jury begins deliberation in the Daniel Penny trial, the veteran who held down a man who was harassing subway riders. The man later died and Penny is being tried for manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
Mayor Eric Adams seems to be up-to-here with all of this crime. On Monday, he dared the public to cancel him for committing to work with the Trump administration to deport migrant criminals. He also spoke about the Penny trial and seemed to indicate that Penny should be acquitted.
This all comes on the same day that the mayor claims that crime in the city and on the subways is down.
Jennifer Tilly is trending because she discussed her very lucrative divorce settlement. She was married to Sam Simon, one of the creators of The Simpsons, and her divorce terms give her royalties from the show so she admits that she doesn’t have to work.
Mayor Eric Adams is trending for saying this about deporting illegal migrant criminals. To paraphrase: He’s going to do it so if you want to cancel him, he dares you to try.
Eminem is trending because his mother died from lung cancer.
$5,000. That is the fine that a Canadian mayor got when he refused to fly a Pride flag in 2020. He was also ordered to host a drag story hour in the local library and take LGBTQ training. He says he’s not going to be doing any of that.
1,000. That is how many men a porn star wants to have sex with in a 24-hour period to create a world record. She is currently taking applications. Gross.
One year. That is the prison sentence for a woman in Ohio who was convicted of eating a cat. She’s not a Haitian migrant as President Trump had spoken about but she is a woman who ate a cat. He gets half of an I-Told-You-So.
