🚨 Hypocrites – December 06 2023

factor

Happy Wednesday.

An English town called Warsall has what residents say is the most pathetic town Christmas tree display. Even city council members say that it "looks like it’s been dragged around the town and the lights just thrown on.”

In Case You Missed It.

🚨 The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution that says that “anti-Zionism is antisemitism.” This would mean that most Hasidic Jews are antisemitic.

🇷🇴 Romania declared a nationwide epidemic of the measles.

🗳️ Liz Cheney may run for president as an independent to “stop Donald Trump.”

🌲 The EU is warning of a “huge risk” of terrorist attacks over Christmas due to the war in Israel.

🇮🇱 Bernie Sanders has spoken out against providing aid to Israel saying that it would make the U.S. complicit in allowing “the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government to continue its current military approach.”

🇷🇺 Russia reportedly rejected a prisoner trade for Americans Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan.

🤳🏻 Boris Johnson denied deleting 5,000 WhatsApp messages and texts that are missing during a Covid Inquiry.

🔥 The House Ways and Means Committee released 56 new pages of evidence showing that then-Vice President Joe Biden used multiple email aliases and private email addresses to communicate with his son’s business associate and main financial architect.

The Lead: Biden Admin Slaps Israel Over West Bank Violence

credit: nytimes

The United States has announced visa bans on Israel over settler violence in the West Bank.

This is a small but symbolic move because the U.S. almost never pushes Israel on violence against Palestinians.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this: “Today, the State Department is implementing a new visa restriction policy targeting individuals believed to have been involved in undermining peace, security or stability in the West Bank, including through committing acts of violence or taking other actions that unduly restrict civilians’ access to essential services and basic necessities.”

What do they mean by “settlers”? This refers to Israelis who live in the occupied territory of the West Bank. They live in illegal outposts and it is even illegal under Israeli law. Many have been terrorizing Palestinians on their own land for years but they see this war as an opportunity to step it up and carry out pograms in Palestinian villages.

According to Al Jazeera, “since the October 7 attack, Israeli settlers have killed at least nine Palestinians in the West Bank, three times as many as in all of 2022, and attacks on Palestinian villages and farmers have become commonplace.”

It is an interesting contradiction. First, why would those people care about a potential Visa to the U.S.? Second, why would the U.S. stand for Palestinian civilians in the West Bank and not Gaza?

Senators Walk Out Over Ukraine Funding

credit: epa

Several U.S. Senators reportedly walked out of a meeting over funding for Ukraine on Tuesday. Shortly after, Ukrainian President Zelensky was scheduled to address Congress but backed out.

Utah’s Mitt Romney was one of the walkers and he said that “a number” of his Republican colleagues followed suit.

Do Republicans suddenly realize that sending aid to Ukraine is unethical because it means that Ukrainian men die to reclaim land that Ukraine has been torturing for a decade? No, it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the fact that the budget for Ukraine leaves nothing for border security.

Senator Romney told reporters: “There's nothing new in what they're describing, and Republicans are saying that there's support for Ukraine, but there has to be security of our border."

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Congress that if the U.S. does not send more aid to Ukraine, it is “very likely” that the Pentagon will have to send troops to Europe. Speaking about that meeting, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul told The Messenger: "If Putin takes over Ukraine, he'll get Moldova, Georgia, then maybe the Baltics.”

This is false fear mongering. Putin did not single handedly decide to take over Ukraine. Russian Parliament voted on the Special Military Operation in March of 2022 at the request of from the leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) for assistance in repelling Ukrainian aggression since 2014. Neither Russia nor Putin have ever expressed interest in gaining territory beyond that region.

U.S. Army Has A New Enemy

credit: war horse

The U.S. Army is taking on the mission to “defend” against “adversarial information campaigns.”

The Army awarded a $5 million contract to Dr. Nitin Agarwal, a professor of Information Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He said that narratives on social media can be weaponized and present “insidious threats” that “need to be considered as modern weapons of cognitive hijacking.”

The examples given in Agarwal’s work include research showing how “YouTube’s algorithms can be manipulated to promote positive content about China while crushing negative news like human rights violations against Uyghur minorities in western China, or how the terrorist organization, Islamic State uses bots to recruit members and for propaganda campaigns.”

That is interesting because human rights violations against the Uyghurs is a U.S. narrative that has been debunked. Even the United Nations is unable to prove it. And who is using bots and fake online propaganda campaigns to sow discord in foreign governments? Oh yeah, the Pentagon does that.

The Army says that Argawal’s research will help them develop “training exercises… to enhance the U.S. workforce with skills in big data analytics, data management, machine learning, and artificial intelligence with applications in security.”

What's Trending?

credit: x

Bob Marley is trending because a trailer for an upcoming movie about his life was released. The movie is called “Bob Marley: One Love” and it comes out in February.

“British army beards” is trending on news that the British army may lift a 300-year-old ban on men wearing beards during their service to help with recruitment. Lol. Is there anyone who really wants to join the army but won't because they love their beard so much?? Or maybe it's the senseless wars that is keeping recruitment low?

Pamela Anderson is trending for walking a red carpet without makeup. This is the second time she has done this. She went makeup-free this year at the fall fashion show in Paris.

News By The Numbers

35. That is how many rides were closed temporarily at Disneyland on Tuesday due to a 3.5-magnitude earthquake in Southern California.

2. That is how many times Presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy says that he was on Jeffrey Epstein’s jet. He also said that his wife had “some kind of relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell.”

Just "Lose Gracefully" To Trans Athletes

Congress held a hearing on Tuesday to discuss transgender athletes in school sports. There were some doozies here worth watching.

For example, National Women's Law Center President Fatima Goss Graves said that female athletes should "learn to lose gracefully" to transgender competitors. She championed sports in general for the life lessons it provides young people and yet, as lockdown critic Jennifer Sey points out, they did not “give a damn about all public school kids being kept out of sports for 2+ years." So now we care about sports for the life lessons?

Another clip that has gone viral Congresswoman Summer Lee was called misogynistic by competitive swimmer Riley Gaines after she accused Gaines of being transphobic. Lee tried to get the statement struck from the record because she said that Gaines was “engaging in personalities” but she was overruled and withdrew her request. Later on X she said that this hearing was “yet another extremist Republican hearing attacking trans kids.” The comments on this post are worth reading.
