The Lead: War Games

Three American soldiers killed in Jordan credit: x

War lovers are banging the drum for the U.S. to launch an attack on Iran, even as the Pentagon admits that it has no evidence that Iran was behind an attack on U.S. troops in Jordan that killed three American service members.

The three soldiers killed were identified by The Washington Post. They included two women in their twenties and a man in his forties. Let's honor them by remembering their names:

  • Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46
  • Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24
  • Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh was asked for proof that Iran was behind the attack and was unable to offer any. She said that Iran “bears responsibility” to prove they weren’t.

The Wall Street Journal, in a shocking display of warmongering, laid out three suggestions for the U.S. to punish Iran, including direct strikes on Iran, proxies abroad or sanctions. This isn't even an opinion piece. It's just the Journal suggesting war and death without the burden of proof. It's death for death without any worries about stopping the cycle.

Get Ready for the NATO European Army

NATO is trying to cut the red tape to mobilize a European army by creating what they call a “military Schengen.”

The Schengen area is the European law that allows people and goods to move freely between member states. In a recent article in The Times, NATO’s European logistics chief Lieutenant-General Alexander Sollfrank is advocating that it apply to military equipment and personnel. That means that NATO could take the reigns of an EU army.

This idea is being sold as a preparation to go to war with Russia. Sollfrank said that NATO needs a “military corridor” across Europe and that this could be established by July at the next NATO summit.

Does this seem like a military expansion? Would this fly if they weren’t selling us the possibility of a war with Russia?

Elon Musk says "Make it So"

Elon Musk says that the first human received an implant from his company Neuralink and “is recovering well.” He added that “Initial results show promising neuron spike detection.”

The brain microchip implant is meant to allow a human to perform computer functions with their mind. Musk has said that it will help people who are physically impaired. He sought quadriplegics under 40 years old for the trial, which is expected to take at least six years.

The FDA approved these trials after experimentation on animals.

The response to this is as expected. The possibilities for good seem to equal the possibilities for bad here. What do you think?

$23,500. That is how much a man was ordered to pay the Judy Garland Museum after he confessed to stealing the ruby slippers that she wore in the “The Wizard of Oz.”

Kamila Valieva is trending because she was stripped of her figure skating awards after a court ruled that she had violated the sports anti-doping rules.

Israeli Soldiers Use Cross-Dressing Attacks

The Associated Press reports that Israeli forces dressed as women and medical workers to storm a hospital in Gaza. The Israeli military said that militants were using the hospital as a hideout but "did not provide evidence backing that claim."

Militants or not, attacking hospitals is against international laws of war. At least three people are reported to have died in this attack.

The Jerusalem Post reports that Hamas has rejected a proposed ceasefire in peace negotiations that took place in Paris this weekend. Hamas insists that Israel “halt its Gaza offensive and withdraw from the Strip before any prisoner exchange takes place.”

Hamas has dozens of Israeli hostages; Israel has thousands of Palestinian hostages. Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Thani, who is helping to broker a peace deal, said that the hostage exchange would be phased with women and children first with an aim to ending the bombing in Gaza.
