The Lead: WHO Caught Lying About Bird Flu

credit: giphy

Mexico set the record straight and said that the person who died of bird flu had several other complicating factors, including obesity, kidney, and respiratory failure.

So why did the World Health Organization say that the man died OF bird flu when in fact he died WITH bird flu and many other health co-morbidities? Are we doing this again? Really?

After the WHO tried to pass of the death as caused by bird flu last Wednesday, they turned around and corrected themselves on Friday saying that the death was "multifactorial." They now say that they assess "the current risk to the general population posed by this virus as low." They did not apologize for the mis-assessment though but they should have.

Mexican Health Secretary Jorge Alcocer on Thursday said this about the WHO's diagnosis: "I can point out that the statement made by the World Health Organization is pretty bad, since it speaks of a fatal case (of bird flu), which was not the case." He added: "So far, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission."

How do we even know that the man had bird flu? He was reportedly diagnosed based on a PCR test. Oh the same PCR test that was ruled "unfit for purpose" during the Covid pandemic you mean? Great.

Is Trump A Felon?

credit: nytimes

A Yale professor has gone viral for his assessment of the "hush money" case against former President Donald Trump. In response to the guilty verdict, law professor and constitutional scholar and lawyer Jed Rubenfeld launched a YouTube channel called Straight Down The Middle and it is proof that there are still adults in the room.

Professor Rubenfeld makes it clear that there are serious questions of constitutionality around the case. One of the most blaring is that Trump's legal team was never told what crime he was being charged with. The prosecution said that the payments were a "falsification of business records," which were then used to conceal a crime. The main problem is that the "crime" was never specified to Trump's legal team, even when they asked the judge to force the prosecution to name it. This is a serious violation of the president's 6th Amendment rights.

But wait, there's more.

The next problem lies in the judge's conflict of interest. The judge was a donor to the Biden/Harris campaign, which Professor Rubenfeld says is unusual and usually not allowed. The judge's daughter represents the Biden/Harris campaign in her public relations firm so she stands to gain from the outcome of the trial. This too is possibly a serious conflict and yet it has been allowed to continue. As he says, if you're going to charge a former president, you'd better bring the goods on him, not play this cagey game with compromised actors.

Professor Rubenfeld points out that Trump is not actually a convicted felon because a jury verdict is not what makes one a convicted felon. The judge has to enter that judgement of guilt and that has yet to happen. Will it? On Friday, the judge notified the parties to the case that a Facebook post may be an indication of a jury violation around a possible juror's cousin. The post is dubious but here is another read: Is the judge trying to dismiss this case rather than face ethical reviews over it after dragging Trump through the ringer? At this point, it all feels very manipulative.

Doctors Fight Back Against Transgender Surgeries

credit: x

A large and vocal group of doctors has formed the Doctors Protecting Children Declaration, speaking out against transgender procedures for children. The group includes representatives from the American College of Pediatricians and includes representatives from dozens of other medical and ethical associations.

The American College of Pediatricians has been called "a socially conservative advocacy group," and Wikipedia says that the group "promotes conversion therapy." That is because trans advocates use this semantical trick where they say that anyone who does not affirm gender ideology wants to "convert" that person to their biological sex. You can't convert someone's gender to their gender.

The declaration is evidence based though. They cite multiple studies showing that transitioning children does not make them better; in fact, it increases their risk of suicide. Puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones are indisputably unsafe. And social transition only locks children into a dangerous path and ignores pre-existing mental health issues. We should know this by now but the media and ideological extremists are trying not to know this by now.

In a press conference to launch the declaration, Dr. Jill Simons implores other doctors to "follow the science.. and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex… In our declaration, we affirm that Sex is a dimorphic innate trait  defined in relation to an organism's biological reproduction, male and female."

A Red Wave Just Hit Europe

giphy.gif credit: euro news

Leftist European politicians lost big in elections on Sunday. The media will tell you that this is a surge of far-right support but is it really so “far” to vote against politicians that put Europeans last?

In France, President Emmanuel Macron's party did so poorly that the President announced that he would dissolve parliament and call for snap elections in the coming weeks. He says that he is worried about the "rise of nationalists" and that "France needs a clear majority in serenity and harmony." He has not proven himself to be the guy to bring that for his country. He wants war. He's proven that unequivocally.

In Belgium, Prime Minister Alexander de Croo resigned in tears after his party lost terribly.

In the Netherlands, the party of right-wing Geert Wilders gained enough seats to be the second-largest party. This is the party that supports the farmers rather than attacks them as the Netherlands has done.

In Austria, Germany and Spain, right-wing parties also gained seats in parliament as a backlash to the people-last leadership that Europe has had in the last decade. A more rational read would call this a centrist move not a “far-right" move.
