We really can't put much stock into what President Trump says about the war with Iran. It is still happening and it is not the "easy" win that the President promised.

On Monday, the stock market rallied briefly because a CBS reporter claimed that the President told her that the war was “very complete, pretty much."

When asked about that statement later in the day, he said the war was both in the beginning and "very complete." He also said he doesn't think the U.S. has "won enough" so, presumably, after a few more wins (or war crimes), he'll be ready to wrap it up.

"We've already won in many ways, but we haven't won enough. We go forward, more determined than ever to achieve ultimate victory that will end this long running danger once and for all."

He called the war "an excursion into something that had to be done" but "we're getting very close to finishing that." That's what I tell my children when I drag them on errands.

There are reports that U.S. negotiators are seeking to arrange ceasefire talks but Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that Iran is not interested in that.

"We have a very bitter experience of talking with Americans," he said. "After three rounds of negotiations…still, they decided to attack us. So I don't think talking with Americans will be on our agenda any more."

He is correct. The U.S. bombed Iran twice in the middle of negotiations and killed their religious leader during Ramadan. You can't blame them for not wanting to RSVP to that party.

Large numbers of Iranians gathered in broad daylight in Tehran on Monday to celebrate their new leader, the new Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, and send a message of defiance to their adversaries.

Israeli leaders have felt the toll of this war too. Israel’s finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said his son was wounded in an attack near the Lebanese border that injured eight Israeli soldiers. There were also reports on X that David Barnea, the head of Mossad, and Israeli minister Ben-Gvir were killed by targeted strikes but those have yet to be confirmed.

In sum: everyone is getting wrecked by a war that no one really wanted and the economy will not cooperate with President Trump's will.

When Enemies Become Allies

Iran is accusing Israel of carrying out massive false flag operations against Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Cyprus in order to drag allies into its conflict.

The Cradle reports that Iranian President Pezeshkian "Informed Turkish President Erdogan that Tehran is ready to form a joint team to investigate allegations that Iran launched missile attacks on Turkiye."

"No such missiles were launched from Iranian bases" towards these places, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Erdogan appears amenable to these investigations. He certainly doesn't seem to believe Israel by default, especially after Israeli leaders warned that "Turkey is the new Iran." They're not even done with the old Iran.

Would Israel carry out these strikes to provoke allies? Well, there is a history of them doing just that.
