The Lead: Ceasefire Goes Into Overtime

credit: reuters

Israel and Hamas have extended the ceasefire for at least another 24 hours to continue to exchange hostages. This comes after U.S. Secretary of State returned to Israel and urged for further extension of the truce.

The U.S. is using subtle tactics to signal to Israel that it does not want it to resume the fighting without having to say it outright. Yet when asked if they should “condition military aid,” officials said that it’s “not something we’re currently pursuing.” So unconditional military aid will continue to flow without any restrictions to curb civilian deaths.

The U.S. is showing why the truce negotiations have been headed by Qatar. Namely because U.S. officials are speaking out of both sides of their mouths to try to condemn violence without condemning Israel.

President Biden said on his personal X account that “Hamas unleashed a terrorist attack because they fear nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace.” That is almost too dumb to respond to and it is a shameless simplification for decades of brewing conflict. It implies that Israelis and Palestinians were nearing any semblance of peace prior to October 7, which is just not true.

Swiss-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reports that in less than 50 days, there have been at least 20,000 people killed in Gaza, including over 8,000 children and 4,000 women. They report that 92% of them are civilians. Contrast that with the civilian death toll in Ukraine which is under 10,000 in 20 months. The organization has also addressed reports that the Israeli army abandoned premature babies after evacuating a hospital in Gaza, leaving them to die.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has said the US has “been clear with the Israelis that we don’t support them moving forward with operations in the south unless they have a plan to deal with the now-increased level of civilians there.”

Americans Don't Want Electric Cars

credit: wsj

Thousands of car dealerships are begging President Biden to “tap the breaks” on electric vehicle mandates. In a letter to the president, close to 4,000 dealers have asked the administration to repeal regulations that push electric vehicle adoption.

Why? Because consumers aren’t buying them. A representative for these dealerships told CNBC that dealerships are backed up with EVs on their lots that they simply can’t sell.

“We're now backed up to 12 months with EVs. Consumers don't want them. They're not buying them,” said Tom Maoli from Celebrity Motor Cars. “We have up to $15,000 in rebates from the manufacturer and $7,500 tax credits. We're talking $22,500."

The letter addresses the fact that EV batteries are not domestically sourced and not affordable. The U.S. could source the lithium needed for these batteries domestically but environmental litigation has sent that business overseas.

“The consumer is in fear of the infrastructure,” Maoli said. Meaning they are worried about where to charge their car and how to service the vehicles when servicing EVs is more expensive than service for gas-powered gars. “The White House got way over its skiis with this mandate.”

"I Can Blow Up The World" – Joe Biden

credit: getty

Is this funny? President Joe Biden made a joke about being able to blow up the world at a visit to a factory in Colorado on Wednesday. He appears to struggle even to make that “joke.”

It’s not funny. He is referring to the nuclear codes that are carried in a black case alongside the president at all times. It’s not funny that this exists and it’s less funny that it is in the hands of a senile old man like Joe Biden.

At the same visit, the president refers to former President Trump as Congressman Trump. Trump never served in Congress.

The President’s lack of awareness is not comical fodder. It is serious. Even Democrats are now willing to admit as such now as the President’s poll numbers tank day by day. How in the world can this person run for re-election in 2024?

What's Trending?

This video is trending in which Elon Musk discusses advertisers that want to tank X’s commitment to free speech by blackmailing the company with ad dollars. His hot take on that: “Go f*ck yourselves.” CEO Linda Yaccarino responded in a refreshingly candid way, not walking back the words of the boss.

Eddie Murphy is trending because his new Christmas movie Candy Cane will be released on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.

St. Andrews Day is trending because that is today. St. Andrew is Scotland's patron saint

$40,000. That is the amount of a check written to Hunter Biden that caused a bank official to flag the activity and run the issue up to senior management. Alabama's Sex Change Battle

credit: fox

Transgender Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services Dr. Rachel Levine was pulled into a lawsuit over Alabama’s ban on sex changes and hormones for children. The Justice Department tried to block this and they lost.

Why would the Justice Department want to leave this marquis trans-identified person out of such a big argument? Could it be because he has pushed unscientific treatments for children and said that doctors should be advocates for these dangerous procedures? Could it be that Levine has long-since known that the medical research does not support these procedures?

An Alabama law outlaws the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and sex change surgeries for minors because those procedures are dangerous medical experimentations. The Justice Department joined a lawsuit to challenge this law and the Attorney General Steve Marshall requested Levine’s emails to make the case that he “is one of the primary voices in the federal government — and relevantly in the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department — who is advocating for sex changes in children with gender dysphoria.”

The Justice Department tried to protect Levine and instead offer Levine’s former subordinate and a FOIA response with unrelated search terms. The court saw right through that and ruled that Levine is on the hook for this one. Does that mean we will see what basis the government is using to advocate for experimentation on children in the name of ideology?
