Happy Tuesday

Sunday was World Water Day and Canada used the occasion to lecture about…gender. They claim women are “world leaders in water management.” Women have historically brought water to the home, sure, but men build aqueducts, plumbing systems, and city water facilities. Men are the plumbers, pipefitters, water treatment operators, and utility workers. So who’s actually managing the water?

Canada, why make such a weird statement? Water is just about the least gendered topic there is, and still you managed to muck it up with progressive idiocy.

Can these lunatics hear themselves?

Lead: Quagmire Diplomacy

The White House claims that it is holding “conversations” to resolve hostilities with Iran. Iran, however, says that no such talks are happening.

An Iranian politician said this: “No negotiations have been held with the US, and fakenews is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped.”

Quagmire is the right word.

The President may want out but Israel doesn’t and as long as Israel is our “model ally,” the U.S. is in it. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel will “continue to strike both in Iran and in Lebanon,” no matter what the U.S. does.

While the world watches the U.S. flounder over Iran, Israel has free rein to terrorize Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank.

In Gaza, local media reports that the IDF tortured an 18-month old boy to terrorize his father, who remains in custody with about 14,000 others. They also set fire to a fishing boat and killed at least nine people over the Eid holiday.

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers (read: terrorists) are conducting a raid of arson attacks on homes and cars.

In Lebanon the IDF has ordered the destruction of every bridge across the Litani River, presumably to prevent the hundreds of thousands of people who were evacuated from every returning.

This is what a “model ally” looks like?

No Kings, No Spine

Democrats are organizing another No Kings rally across the U.S. this Saturday across the country. Are they protesting the war that the U.S. is fighting in Iran? Imposing mass suffering through sanctions on Cuba? The imperialistic kidnapping of the Venezuela president?

Nah. They don’t actually care about Cubans or Venezuelans unless they are illegally in the U.S. What we do to them in their home country is not their concern. n

Instead, Democrats are mobilizing around issues that activate their base like protecting illegal immigrants and the nebulous concept of “authoritarianism.” At a time when they could unify bipartisan politics and capture the antiwar sentiment, they are choosing to play the hits. War messaging could unify broader audiences, but it also risks internal splits within the party. And we wouldn’t want to do that, now, would we?

Could it be because Democrats never offered an alternative to the pro-Israel war drum? On the campaign trail, Vice President Kamala Harris made it clear that “all options are on the table” for Israel’s war with Iran.

So go to the rally if you want. Get yourself worked up about the culture wars. It won’t matter much if we all get nuked, will it?
