Happy Tuesday

Like a kid getting his own “Happy Meal”, the president eagerly accepted his DoorDash order from McDonald’s. This was more of a photo op, though. The delivery was made by Sharon Simmons, who cashed in on the Administration’s “No Tax on Tips” initiative, where she pocketed an extra $11,000.

Just another day at the White House.

Lead: Double-Blocked Strait

Trump’s blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is now in effect, with U.S. Central Command saying most ships moving in and out of Iranian ports will be stopped.

Not a lot of support behind that one.

Spain, Turkey, and France are criticizing the move. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is steering clear, saying, “We are not supporting the blockade,” adding that the United Kingdom “is not getting dragged in” to the U.S.-Israel war on Iran.

And the move risks provoking a confrontation with China, which sends over a third of its oil imports through the strait.

Does anyone besides the U.S. and Israel think this is a good idea?

Iran is calling the move a “grave violation” of its sovereignty, with Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, saying the blockade breaks international maritime law, and amounts to piracy.

It also demanded reparations from those countries hosting U.S. military bases, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan.

So this conflict just escalated.

But at least Trump gets to appear as though he is running the show.

Narrative Collapse

Recently declassified documents, known as the Atkinson transcripts, have been released under the direction of Tulsi Gabbard, revealing new details about President Trump’s 2019 impeachment.

And they tell a different story than what Americans were originally told.

The original Articles of Impeachment were built around a so-called “whistleblower” complaint tied to Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In it, they claimed, “Using the powers of his high office, President Trump solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, in the 2020 United States Presidential election.”

But according to the declassified records, that whistleblower, identified as Eric Ciaramella, did not even have direct knowledge of the call.

In fact, he admitted as much in his intake form. In his own words, “I do not have direct knowledge of private comments or communications by the President.”

So the main accusation that triggered impeachment proceedings was based on secondhand information? That’s not exactly how this was presented at the time.

The memos also show that the whistleblower expressed political bias and had a prior professional relationship with a Democratic presidential candidate (Joe Biden).

That information was not made public during the impeachment process. Why not? Because the narrative presented to the public was that this was a neutral, nonpartisan individual raising concerns in good faith.

The documents also show that the whistleblower had contact with Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee before formally filing the complaint.

What does this all actually reveal, besides the fact that there was no real basis for impeachment? That the DNC went to great lengths, dishonestly attempting to remove a sitting president from office, when in reality, they were doing the very thing they were accusing Trump of, which was manipulating the 2020 elections. But that’s ok, it’s just politics as usual, right?

Oh, and are Americans going to get their tax dollars back that funded the impeachment hearings?

And why is this coming out this week? Because the timing is hard to ignore.

These memos sat buried for seven years.

And now, as major scrutiny builds around the Trump administration’s role in the war in Iran, they suddenly emerge. Are we supposed to believe that’s random?

What’s Trending?

President Trump is trending after saying the image he posted wasn’t meant to depict him as Jesus, but as a doctor instead. He also said, “Only the fake news could come up with that one.” To be fair, the glowing healing hands probably didn’t help. The image was posted shortly before Trump posted a Truth Social message criticizing Pope Leo XIV for being critical of the Iran war. He deleted the post after massive backlash.

7-Eleven is trending because it has announced that it will close over 600 stores this year. This neighborhood convenience store has been around since 1927.

Sid Krofft, co-creator of the children’s series H.R. Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost, is trending following his death at age 96.
