Lead: Israel Attacks Rafah, Kills Dozens

credit: ap

Israel has captured the Rafah border crossing with tanks and troops and begun air strikes. Israel says that they are targeting Hamas but residential homes were hit and at least 23 Palestinians were killed

Israel says that they have killed approximately 20 Hamas fighters and that Rafah had been used for “terrorist operations” but they have provided no evidence of this. Given the long lead time for this attack, it stands to reason Hamas was not a readily available target.

How can aid be delivered to survivors now? Rafah was one of the only functioning aid delivery port but now it is not.

As awful as this is, the U.S. says that it’s not as bad as they’d feared. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Israel gave the U.S. assurances that this is an “an operation of limited scale and duration.” Does that make you feel better?

Kirby said that a ceasefire may still be brokered after Israel rejected a ceasefire that Hamas agreed to. “Everybody is coming to the table,” Kirby said. But it will be too late for many civilians.

AstraZeneca Pulls It's Covid Vaccine For Killing Too Many People

credit: getty

AstraZeneca pulled its Covid vaccine from global distribution after begrudgingly admitting that it was linked to “rare but serious side effects.”

AstraZeneca has been sued by victims and their families who were severely harmed or died after taking this vaccine. In court, the company “acknowledged that its vaccine 'can, in very rare cases, cause TTS'. TTS is short for thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome – a medical condition where a person suffers blood clots along with a low platelet count. Platelets typically help the blood to clot.”

AstraZeneca said that they are pulling the vaccine due to low demand because there are new varieties of the Covid vaccine on the market. They of course admit no wrongdoing or danger nor will they face any consequences because they were given immunity when the vaccine was rolled out. The victims in lawsuits will be paid by the government, which means the taxpayers.

TikTok Sues The Government

TikTok is suing the federal government over a recently-passed ban on the social network. They said that they would and they did. Get out the popcorn.

The lawsuit claims that the bill violates the constitutional protection of free speech in the name of national security. We all know that the ban has nothing to do with national security. I’ve got a bridge to sell you if you still believe that.

“For the first time in history, Congress has enacted a law that subjects a single, named speech platform to a permanent, nationwide ban, and bars every American from participating in a unique online community with more than 1 billion people worldwide,” TikTok says it the suit.

Game on.

Apple event is trending because Apple finally announced new super-thin iPads, a new keyboard, a new Apple pencil and new software on Tuesday.

Kim Kardashian is trending because she brought “extreme corsetry” to the 2024 Met Gala. What is that you say? It is wearing something so tight, you think you might die like this. She could not breathe, walk or eat in this dress clearly.

Prince Harry is trending on news that he will not visit his father the King on this visit to England because the King is very busy. Sounds on the up and up, right?

Wednesday is trending because Netflix announced that it is filming season 2 of the popular show with this teaser trailer.

News By The Numbers

287 feet. That is the size of Mark Zuckerberg’s new mega-yacht. It cost approximately $300 million.

71%. That is how many people agree with the statement, “Disney should return to wholesome programming and allow parents to decide when their children are taught about sexuality,” in a recent Rasmussen poll.

Do Women Really Want Construction Jobs?

credit: giphy

Are women having a hard time breaking into the construction industry? Maine Governor Mills says so. She signed a bill into law that will incentivize companies to hire more female construction workers.

In a statement, she says that “women currently make up 15 percent of Maine’s construction industry and only 11 percent of the industry nationally.”

Is this a glass ceiling or a natural selection of jobs by gender due to the sexed body?
