Happy Wednesday

Republicans are celebrating the end of what they call the longest government shutdown in modern history.

Did you even know the government was shut down?

Most Americans didn’t, because while Congress spent months fighting over immigration funding, the parts of government people actually interact with kept running.

Which tells you everything you need to know about Congress. They spent months congratulating themselves for a fight that most Americans never noticed.

Lead: Escalating the War With Iran in “Self-Defense”

The U.S. began striking Iran overnight in retaliation for what President Trump said was a downed helicopter that was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM says that it is done now, as if it were a movie premiere that came and went.

In response, Iran reportedly launched attacks on the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain, U.S. assets in Jordan, Kuwait, and possibly Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The extent of the damage on either side has yet to be assessed as of this writing.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the U.S. should cease escalating with Iran because its military “will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe.”

All of this started over an empty helicopter? The story is fishy. President Trump said that there were only two pilots on board but “both are safe and uninjured.”

There are many unconfirmed reports that there were seven people aboard, not two, and that they did not survive. Why else would the U.S. respond to the destruction of an empty aircraft?

Again, the U.S. is calling this “self-defense.”

The U.S. flew into sovereign territory that it has repeatedly attacked over the last year and was shot down by the country it regularly attacks. Now they claim self-defense. It’s Orwellian.

While this is all happening, Israel has continued to bomb Lebanon. Recall that Iran’s condition for peace was that Israel stop its invasion of Lebanon, but while the U.S. and Iran duke it out, Israel can do whatever it wants.

Israel Is Spying on the U.S.? You Don’t Say.

NBC News reports that Israel may be spying on top U.S. officials.

Duh!

Why is this being presented as a shocking development?

U.S. intelligence officials, whistleblowers, and journalists have been discussing Israeli espionage against the United States for decades. In 2019, Politico reported that U.S. officials believed Israel was behind Stingray surveillance devices found near the White House during Trump’s first term. According to that report, there were no meaningful consequences.

So what exactly has changed? NBC’s reporting suggests that Israel is seeking insight into internal Trump administration deliberations on Iran and the broader Middle East. But if Israel already enjoys extensive access to Washington’s political and military establishment, does this indicate that certain channels have been cut off? Or is this simply another attempt to create the appearance of daylight between Washington and Tel Aviv?

Either way, the real story may not be that Israel is spying. The real story may be why the media is suddenly treating a long-established reality as breaking news.

There are some reports that the intelligence community knew this early this week but held the reports about it until after the House of Representatives passed the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act with Section 224 which requires military cooperation between the U.S. and Israel in a way the U.S. has never agreed to with any other country. In other words, whoever is worried about this is not that worried about this.

What If Your Supplements Aren’t the Problem?

Lear Capital

Americans spend billions on supplements every year—yet nutrient deficiencies remain surprisingly common.

The Absorption Company believes the missing piece is right in the name: absorption.

Many supplements absorb poorly, meaning much of what you take may never be fully utilized by your body. That’s why The Absorption Company focuses on advanced delivery technology designed to help nutrients absorb more effectively.

From magnesium and berberine to weight-management support, their products are built around one simple idea: a supplement can only work if your body can absorb it.

Did you miss our live show on Tuesday? No problem, you can catch the replay here! Also, check out this segment with Mark Lynch, the South Carolina businessman who challenged Senator Lindsey Graham in the Republican primary.

Unfortunately, Lynch lost last night. Still, he put up a fight against one of the most entrenched members of the Republican establishment and gave voters an alternative to endless war and business as usual.

As for the Republicans who voted for Lindsey Graham… Why?

What’s Trending

“Michael,” the Michael Jackson biopic, is trending because it became available for streaming on Tuesday. Why the studio would make the film available while it was still steadily climbing in box office sales is beyond me. The movie is still playing in theaters.

Jeep is trending because there is a recall of over 1 million Jeep Wranglers and Jeep Gladiators over a defect that could spark a fire. Owners are being asked to park their cars outdoors and away from buildings until a fix is available so as to avoid starting major fires.

Karmelo Anthony is trending. He is the teen from the viral video who stabbed a fellow athlete at a track meet last year. He was found guilty of murder on Tuesday and now faces life in prison.
