At least three European countries will now recognize Palestine as a state: Norway, Ireland and Spain. Currently 148 countries around the world recognize Palestine as a state but most of Europe is excluded from this list.
This is something Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said cannot happen on his watch. Israel has recalled their ambassadors in those countries as a result. Foreign Minister Israel Katz says that this move is a “prize for terrorism” for Hamas.
The United States does not recognize Palestine but has long paid lip service to a two-state solution which would in theory recognize Palestine. That seems on the back burner while the U.S. considers sanctions for the International Criminal Court (ICC) for its applications for arrest warrants for leaders of Israel and Hamas for the ongoing war in Gaza. How does one sanction a governing body that it is not a member of?

A new strain of Covid is called the FLiRT variant. It feels like they’re messing with us with that nomenclature.
The variant, also called KP.2, is named from the mutations in the variant’s genetic code and it is an offshoot of omicron. Johns Hopkins says that it was responsible for 28% of Covid infections in May. Is it more serious than previous strains? No. Johns Hopkins reports this:
"When it comes to symptoms, we’re not seeing anything new or different with these variants. We continue to see more mild disease, but that’s likely not because the virus is milder, but because our immunity is so much stronger now. After years of vaccinations and infections, most of the population is better able to fight off an infection without as much concern for severe disease.”
How do they know that current Covid vaccines offer any protection against this strain? They don’t. “Studies have not been yet done with some of these newer variants” but they still recommend vaccination anyway because… No one knows why.

Dr. Anthony Fauci's advisor will testify to the Congressional Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic today which is inconvenient timing after it was reported that he was trying to hide emails from FOIA requests.
Dr. Morens thought he was being sly by using his Gmail and bragged to his colleagues that he could “make emails disappear.” He says that a “FOIA lady” gave him training on how to do this as if there was someone in the NIH who was purposely training people to not leave paper trails.
What was he hiding exactly? Was it to do with gain of function or lab leaks? Was it to do with EcoHealth contracts that worked on gain of function? I guess we’ll find out!

Why are electric vehicles so lethal for pedestrians? A new study shows that EVs kill TWICE the number of pedestrians than gas-powered cars in the U.K.
Researchers found that “5.16 people on average were hit by an electric or hybrid car for every 100 million miles that type of vehicle had driven, compared with 2.4 people for petrol and diesel cars.” They estimate that it is because the engines are quieter so pedestrians don’t have warning that they are coming.
These types of accidents are the leading cause of death for children and young people and account for one in four road traffic deaths. EVs manufactured since 2021 do have sound generators but apparently that’s not enough.
