Scientists say that they have discovered a new type of antibiotic that comes from a plant toxin that attacks bacteria in a different way from existing antibiotics on the market.

It is called albicidin and it could be a way to fight antibacterial resistance, which has become a problem. Recent studies have shown that antibiotic resistance may be killing at least 3,500 people per day.

Albicidin is a bacterial plant pathogen that kills bacteria. Scientists in Germany and Poland are working to see if they can use it in pharmaceuticals as a replacement for current antibiotics on the market.

Question: Is it possible that we all develop a resistance to that too?
