The actress who will play the lead in the upcoming Disney film Snow White says that the character is “named for her resilience not pale complexion.”
Rachel Zegler is of Colombian descent. Disney fans have questioned her casting given she has badmouthed the original tale and is clearly not a description from the 1812 Grimm tale that describes the princess as having “skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony.”
Zegler says that Snow White was thusly named for surviving a snow storm as a baby. Okay. I wonder how many babies will be named Milton in the wake of the upcoming hurricane.
