Just when you hoped Israel’s military campaign wouldn’t expand any further, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says it’s about to, this time in the occupied West Bank.
Netanyahu announced on Sunday, “The instructions we gave were to enter villages, search them, seize weapons and make arrests.” He also said Israel is “prepared to act more broadly against terrorist strongholds.” Who are the real terrorists here, though?
And they’re not hiding what’s coming, either.
Just two days earlier, Netanyahu and Katz released a joint statement ordering tougher military action in West Bank villages, more checkpoints, confiscation of weapons, and an acceleration of new settler outposts.
Reports of settler attacks continue to escalate, with reports of Palestinian communities coming under assault while Israeli forces tighten restrictions across the region.
Israel has been illegally occupying the West Bank and expanding settlements for decades, but has escalated its violence and ethnic cleansing under Netanyahu’s current government.
Even former Israeli leaders can see this for what it really is.
Earlier this year, Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert touched on the government’s actions, saying, “This is something that comes close to an attempt to make ethnic cleansing. And I speak up everywhere I can in the loudest voice I have in order to condemn it, because this is not something which is tolerable or which is acceptable by people that have different values of humanity and compassion.”
Yes, people are condemning Israel’s actions, as they should. But condemnation means very little if no one is willing to stop the killing of innocent people.
Vice President Vance and President Trump have added their condemnation statements as well, with Trump declaring: “It won’t happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries,” he said of West Bank annexation. “Israel would lose all of its support from the United States if that happened.”
Israel has not lost the support of the U.S; they’ve joined forces with them, effectively handing Israel the weapons, money, and support to finish the job.
