A Declaration of War

The Idaho Senate passed the Defend the National Guard Act. If it passes the state House of Representatives, it would mean that the National Guard in Idaho will not be sent to war unless Congress declares war, as required by the Constitution.

This law has already been passed in Arizona and New Hampshire. The bill is the creation of veterans who have suffered deaths from endless wars without a congressional declaration. According to, “Guard and Reserve units made up about 45 percent of the total force sent to Iraq and Afghanistan and received about 18.4 percent of the casualties.” On undeclared wars.

We recently interviewed one of the bill’s backers, veteran Dan McKnight on Redacted. Learn more about it here.
