The World Health Organization is warning that cancer rates will surge by 77% by 2050 in their new report. The primary factors they cite for this are tobacco and alcohol use as well as obesity and poor air quality.

The report shows that lung cancer is the most common type of cancer for men and breast cancer is the most common type of cancer for women. They have compiled this fancy website for you to graph any kind of cancer trend you’d like. A heat map shows the the U.S. and Europe have the world’s most concentrated cancer rates. It also shows that five common cancers are responsible for 50% of cases.

Perhaps related and perhaps not, it sure seems like powerful organizations could do something about alcohol and they are choosing not to, right?
