China’s Tiny Bubbles

Chinese researchers say that they have developed new technology to advance submarine detection with the slightest acoustic and vibration reduction systems. They say that this could detect even nuclear-powered submarines cruising at high speeds by picking up their “almost imperceptible bubbles.”

These tiny bubbles, the researchers say, are even more powerful than the advanced magnetic anomaly detectors that are currently used. This could threaten the U.S. dominance of the oceans, according to the South China Morning Post, where the U.S. casually goes where it wants because it uses “the most difficult to detect submarines, with sophisticated acoustic and vibration reduction systems to blend them into the background noises of the ocean.”
