President Biden told CNN that he would stop sending bombs to Israel if they launched a major invasion of Rafah. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reiterated this to Congress on Wednesday.
This is a sleight of hand. They are trying to make it seem as if the invasion of Rafah that began this week was done with restraint because of U.S. caution.
Was it though? At least 13 children were killed in Rafah on Wednesday’s military operation according to some reports. And a U.S. official told The Washington Post that “the Israeli military has enough weapons supplied by the U.S. and other partners to conduct the Rafah operation if it chooses to cast aside U.S. objections.”
So the U.S. gave them all that they needed so they can pretend that they’re not going to give them anymore. Who buys this public posturing?
